Wakefield baby bump photographer: Ali

Wakefield baby bump photographer: Ali came over from Bradford today for a baby bump shoot and just in the nick of time as baby is due on Christmas Eve. One of Ali’s friends had given her a photo shoot gift voucher with a large franchise photography firm but trying to book in proved difficult as their first available slot was in February next year! Being a local and independent photographer meant that, despite a busy schedule just now, I was still able to juggle things around and fit her in within a few days of her calling me. We had a fun shoot and have some really nice images for Ali to choose from as you can see from the small montage below. We used a couple of different backdrops and lighting styles and a variety of outfits to show off the bump at it’s best. Ali is about to get the best Christmas present she’ll ever have :¬)

Wakefield Commercial Photographer: Beaumont Legal

Wakefield commercial photographer: I was on site at Beaumont Legal today to discuss a commissioned shoot for their new website which will involve my taking around a 100 headshots over the coming weeks. The first shoot in a week’s time will require around 50 headshots all to be shot against a white backdrop to allow for various effects to be used by the web designers. I used the visit to determine where on site I could set up to do the images and also I did a press shoot for the firm that is to be used along with an article introducing three new directors to the firm. Lots more images to come when I do the big shoot next week but for now, here’s one of the press shots.

To book me to shoot some bespoke, standout  images for business’ website, just call the studio one 01924 229800 for a competitive quote.

Wakefield headshots photographer

Wakefield headshots photographer: Emma needed to have a few headshots doing for her application to drama school in London so she dropped by the studio to shoot with me after having a quick chat with me on the phone. The shots had to be straighforward, no make-up or retouching, so that the uni can see her as she really is. I just did a simple light set-up using a single 500w monobloc and large softbox to create the shots and had Emma go through a variety of facial expressions as well as just natural poses. After shooting against a white backdrop, I switched to black to do a few different images including some short lighting using a 300w hot light and a honeycombed deep reflector for a kicker light. Here are  a few images from the shoot and if you want to book me for your headshots, just call me on 01924 229800.

Glamour photography workshop: 1-2-1

In the studio today for a glamour photography workshop on a 1-2-1 basis teaching another camera enthusiast the basics of studio lighting for glamour and boudoir. I used Rebecca as the model for the shoot as her uni course allows her to work for me during the week. As always with my lighting demos, I keep everything very simple so that anyone who attends can go away and replicate some of the shots at home with just a single speedlight. I usually just set up a large key light and maybe use a gridded light as a kicker or hair light. In the photo on the right here, I combined a hot light with a studio light to give me that late afternoon sunlight feel but this is slightly more tricky to achieve as the studio lights will overpower tungsten every time if you are not careful. To book me for a photography lighting lession, just call the studio on 01924 22900 or mail me to be notified of up coming glamour photography workshops.

Wentbridge House wedding photographer

Wentbridge House wedding photographerCorinne and David have booked me as their Wentbridge House wedding photographer for their big day early next month and today we met up for the pre-wedding shoot. It’s not just about a shoot, though it’s a great way for us all to get to know each other,  but mainly the time when I get to know all the final details for the wedding day; timings, bridesmaids, mums and dads etc but with the beautiful winter sunshine, a great location and a good looking couple it would have been a crime not to shoot :¬)

I caught up with the pair on their home turf of Leeds and we used the busy but beautiful Roundhay Park for the shoot, The autumn colours made for a great backdrop to the shots and despite not having my usual lighting assistant with me, I did my best  to make the most of the beautiful back lighting that was available. Here are a few images from today and if we hit weather like this next month, it’s going to be one heck of a wedding blog post! :¬)

Camera club lighting demo

Straight from the weekend’s wedding into a full day’s shoot for an agency and then straight  to a camera club lighting demo for Wakefield Camera Club, no wonder I’m always exhausted! I quite enjoy providing lighting demonstrations at camera clubs, it’s always satisfying to see the members having a go at a genre of photography they might not otherwise do. The models may look familiar as it is Jasmin and Ellie who were in my studio last weekend for Jasmin’s 21st birthday shoot. However, I couldn’t help but notice how confident Jasmin is in front of the camera so I immediately thought of her for my demo model – I just knew she would be able to come up with some creative poses for the members! Ellie came along for comapny and once I had got the members up and running with Jasmin, I found a small, daylight balanced spotlight and did some Hollywood lighting portraits of Ellie :¬)
