Natasha’s portfolio shoot

Last week, Natasha and her husband Inder dropped by the studio to discuss a portfolio shoot for Natasha to mark a milestone birthday and today she was back at the studio for the shoot. The aim was to get some glamorous images of Natasha in evening wear to go into a sumptuous storybook album but also to shoot a few images in casual wear. After the makeup artist had done her bit, we started off shooting just around the main studio area using just the white walls and corners, before moving onto a black infinity curve for the majority of the shots  and then finished with a couple of shots in the (now famous) bathroom doorway and then the spiral staircase. Natasha had a great range of outfits and we managed to get through most of them and ended up with a good variety of images for her to choose for the album. Here are just a few for now as its another busy weekend of studio shoots.

To book me for your Hollywood style portfolio shoot, just call the studio on 01924 229800 for a chat or to arrange drop by and see some work like Natasha did. The shoots are relaxed and good fun and you are guaranteed some great portfolio images.

Trinty Walk: Pizza Express and the Gull Wing

Back at Trinity Walk shopping centre today to shoot Pizza Express and the “gull wing” feature above Sainsbury’s amongst other things. Although it was very warm, it was windy and so there weren’t the numbers of lunchtime revellers outside Pizza Express as I’d hoped, but there were a few. The brief was to capture people sitting in the sunshine enjoying food in Grammar Sqaure which will become the food quarter of the mall. These shots will be used in promoting the area to other restauarants and foody type suppliers as part of a drive to fill the remaining units. Another important part of the brief was to get some shots of the gull wing canopy over Sainsbury’s but specifically across a crowded car park. I decided I needed some height to get the angle I wanted so that I could show the cars while not having the view blocked by cars. So, I came up with a cunning plan and if you were in the car park today and saw a photographer swinging from lamp posts and standing atop the entrance height restricters, that would be me :¬)

Trinity Walk: The Chinese Buffet

I’ve been shooting some commercial stuff of Trinity Walk again for London ad agency Halogen, this time concentrating on querky angles and also on some of the newer units. However, part of the brief was to shoot the newly opened “The Chinese Buffet” and here are a few sneak peak shots with more to follow. This was a good gig as they were cooking tasty treats on the griddle for me to photograph and then insisting I eat them; who amI to refuse? :¬) The food is excellent and I’ll be going back with the family this weekend, definately worth a go if you like Chinese food. I’m shooting there again over the weekend so say “Hi” if you see me :¬)

Craig & Michelle’s wedding at Rogerthorpe Manor

A great wedding shoot today at Rogerthorpe Manor with Craig and Michelle. It was a late wedding at 4pm so despite the very wet start to the day, the sun had come out and everywhere had virtually dried up before the main event so we were able to use the grounds and get some great shots in fabulous autumn light. The whole affair was very relaxed which is just the way Craig and Michelle had planned it; the day began with Michelle and her bridesmiads (3 of which were daughters) tucking into a KFC before getting into their fineries for the main event. We shot the bridal prep at Michelle’s home in Ackworth before scooting off to Rogethorpe to catch up with the groom who had in fact, only been over the road at the best man’s house getting ready. After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed the warm autumn sun while we did the formals and the bride and groom shots. Despite both Craig and Michelle not looking forward to the photo session, they did really rather well and we got some images that I’m really pleased with.

The couple are off to France tomorrow for some open top touring in Craig’s beloved car, so here are just a few I wanted to get up for them to have a sneak peak at before they set-off to warmer climes down in the South of France.

Justin and Claire’s wedding at Kings Croft Hotel

Not too bad this morning as we arrived at Claire’s mum’s for the bridal preps, but the forecast was for rain later in the day so I had my fingers crossed. As it turned out, other than a few spots outside the church just after the ceremony and some dark skies later in the afternoon, it turned out not bad at all. The suprise for me was that I recognised Claire’s mum Jill from school days – we went through junior and middle school together – puts me into perspective; old enough to be Claire’s dad! :¬\

The couple were married at Saint Cuthbert’s Church in Ackworth before heading off to Kings Croft in a vintage Rolls Royce for the reception. Justin had mentioned at the pre-wedding meet up that he would like a shot of the couple in the old shelter on the village green and also one in front of one of the village name plates that are fixed to the old millstones as you enter the village (from any direction). The best one for me was the one on Castlesyke Hill heading into Pontefract, but it’s in an awkward spot for parking, in fact it’s a no stopping zone. However, we managed to get the Rolls onto the grass verge off the road and in fact it made a great backdrop which we weren’t expecting to use! After this we headed on to Kings Croft Hotel for the reception and the rest of the photos, Here are just a few images as I’m off to today’s wedding very shortly, but I will post more over the next few days as I begin the edits.

Scott & Jannine pre-wedding shoot

I met up with Scott and Jannine tonight for a pre-wedding meeting ahead of their big day in October. They will be getting married at Royston Church and then on to Cedar Court, Wakefield for the reception. Tonight though we met on the Calder navigation for a shoot before heading off to the local pub for a pint and a run through of the day’s events. It was a really grim evening for photos with very heavy skies and low light and it had been raining very heavily before we met up, but here are a few shots from the session.
