Excite Clothing: shoes!

Shoe heaven for the ladies in the studio this morning as I shot a range of footwear for Excite Clothing – most were size 3 and I just can’t believe how small they are! All simple lighting techniques using a very large light source close to the product to give a crisp edge to the shoes and the detail is enhanced by the uber sharp Nikkor 105 f/2.8 AFS-VR macro lens :¬)

The Clees and the Lees in the studio

Cousin Ros hit the studio tonight with her husband Lester and girls Charlotte & Eleanor and also her bro, cousin Ed and parents Graham and Ethel – my Aunt & Uncle! The shoot was a gift from my mum and dad for Ethel & Graham’s golden wedding annniversary. We shot most of the possible combinations possible I think in the short spell we had. Here are just a few as wedding album edits are occupying my days at the moment!

Exhibtion: Steam trains on the North York Moors

I’ve just delivered the first of my limited edition fine art prints to Green’s Health and Fitness centre in Wakefield where I’m having an exhibition throughout November and December. The prints are all limited to a run of 50 and are of steam trains on the North Yorkshire Moors railway; I know what you’re thinking but I’m not an anorak, honestly! I don’t know the first thing about trains but I do appreciate the design and styling of these workhorses and my aim is to try and capture the essence of the age of steam in the picture, complete with all the dirt and grime that goes along with them. Hopefully, people will find them artistic and appealing and will want to hang them on a wall. If you want to grab a unique Christmas gift, head on down to Greens or just drop by for a coffee and a browse.

Excite Clothing: Knitwear shoot

The Excite crew were again in the studio along with plus size model Amy to shoot some knitwear and other tops that have just arrived in stock. We followed the usual format of shooting the catalog shots on the white infinity curve before moving on to create a few impact shots for flyers and brochures. It would have been great to shoot some knitwear outside with autumn leaves but the damp, grey day and light drizzle put a stop to that, instead we moved through the studio to shoot indoors using a few different locations. We did shoot just a couple out the back, but the back yard is in shade and on a grey day like today, the light was positively flat!

Trinity Walk: Christmas Lights

Back at Trinity Walk for the second time today but this time I was here at dusk with the mission to photograph a giant reindeer – part of the Christmas lights. Don’t panic! It’s not Christmas yet and the lights aren’t on but some shots were needed for a large bill board campaign so I had arranged for the lights to be switched on temporarily just for me :¬) It was panic stations all around from the centre management staff as I think they wanted to get the lights on and off as quickly as possible so as not to spoil the big switch on later in the month. However, it did give them chance to try out a synchronised switch on ahead of the big day and it all went swimmingly. Here are a couple of pictures to give you a sneak preview of what’s to come.

Trinity Walk: Esquires Cafe shoot

I hit Esquires’ newly open coffee shop at Trinity Walk around lunchtime today to get some PR shots of the staff, the building and the public enjoying a good cup of coffee and a pannini. The weather was kind which meant folks were sat out enjoying the autumn sunshine as well as the coffee and this always makes for good advertising shots. I chose a couple of likely subjects and got them laughing and enjoying the hot drinks while strategically holding the cups so that branding was on show. Following this I headed inside and picked out an eyecatching member of staff for a few shots before finishing off with a few general interior shots and shots of the goodies on the cake counter. Here are a few shots from the session.
