Steve & Jane’s pre-wedding shoot

I met up with Steve and Jane today ahead of their Hollins House Hotel wedding on 27th of this month to go through the day’s schedule and get the low down on all the key players and we took the opportunity to have a bit of a pre-wedding shoot. These shoots are a great way of getting to know each other and gives the couple an idea of how the photography will pan out on the day. We met in a small woodland I knew just outside their village of Hambelton near Selby and the weather was kind but cold. If it;s like this on the day at Hollins House we should do ok, providing everyone can stay warm for an hour!

This is London Calling

A 2:30am alarm today for an early start south to London to photograph Christmas lights at three shopping centres! The shoot was for MK Illuminations who have commissioned me to shoot all their lighting installations in shopping centres up and down the country so that they have a fresh batch of images to use in the 2012 marketing push to attract more clients to use their spectacular lighting displays. I hit London’s Stratford City first, a new shopping centre in the heart of the olympic village, to shoot the exterior lighting as the dawn began to break and the early start meant I was in place at around 6:00am to wait for the sky lighten. From here I headed over Tower Bridge and out to Guildford to hit The Friary shopping centre early afternoon to shoot the indoor lights as dusk began to fall before finally heading over to Tonbridge Wells to finish with an evening shoot at Royal Victoria Place! I had a very enjoyable but long and tiring day and I have to say it was a long drive home but I arrived back at 11:00pm which was earlier than I’d expected to be honest :¬o

Here are a selection of images from each of the centres and more shots in a similar vein will follow over the next few days as I hit Morpeth, Manchester, Sheffield and Wakefield’s Trinity Walk again!

Ruth & Nigel bring the boys

I just managed to squeeze in Ruth and Nigel for a family shoot before Christmas and ahead of a big commercial shoot next week which will take up most of my time and involve travelling all around the country! Today though, we managed a family shoot on a white infinity curve to give us a few shots for the grandparents’ Christmas presents. Findlay & Sebastian both performed admirably though Findlay took a bit more coaxing  before he’d get his coat off and pose! Here are a few from the shoot for a sneak peek, but I need to concentrate on getting all the images online for them as time is of the essence now.

Freddy the French Bulldog

Freddy came to the studio today for a portrait shoot which we’d  planned on doing out in the fields but given the very low temperatures, sleet and snow we decided to shoot indoors instead. I thought it was going to be quick and easy, but Freddy had other ideas and sat everywhere except on the centre of the infinity curve. Finally, the lure of cheese and bits of ham got him into position for a few low key shots on a black curve (black on black works well!) but we seemed to have a lot more success on the white curve, probably because he was stuffed with cheese!

Pet photography is something you might not have thought about but ring me if the idea appeals to you, we can shoot on location or in the studio. Call me on 01924 229800 or fill in the contact sheet from the menu above.

The Hobbs family in the studio

Tim, Sarah, Ben and Toby, not forgetting Sam the dog rocked on down to the studio this evening for a family shoot. Sam the dog is knocking on and, although he’s been on the family portraits before, he hasn’t been in the official one since Toby arrived on the scene so tonight’s shoot was to get a shot with all five of them in. In a very brief spell we ended up with loads of different shots to choose from and here are just a few to be going on with.

Excite Clothing: Party frocks and funky tops with Demi

Excite Clothing were back in the studio today to get some Christmas party frocks and tops on their website ready for the festive season. I used Demi as the model as we needed a size 8, reasonably tall girl for the shoot. Regular blog followers will recognise Demi from an earlier post as I used her for a lighting demo last week at Wakefield Camera Club. Demi turned out to be a good choice as the clothes fitted her perfectly and we got some good images for the website.
