Excite Clothing shoot

The Excite team were back in the studio today to shoot the latest additions to their clothing range. Once again we used Demi as the model and ran through a whole raft of tops, skirts, jumpers and leggings. Here are just a few. The Silvers in the studio

Stewart & Katie came back to the studio today along with daughter Sophie and Katie’s sister Helen and her family. They were in the studio a year or so ago to get some photos for Christmas presents and today the target was to get a large family shot of the sisters along with husbands and kids for their mother’s birthday. We managed a cracking family shot almost straight away and then Sophie gave a wonderful solo performance before departing for a party and leaving just Helen, Chee and Ockie for a family shoot, Unfortunately, Ockie was feeling the strain and never managed a solo perfomance but I’m sure we get it next time they are back which may be sooner than you think as Katie is expecting another child in April, so already the family shot will be out of date :¬)

Rebecca’s portfolio shoot

Rebecca called by the studio a couple of weeks ago to have a chat about her portfolio shoot which was being given to her for her 17th birthday and today she was back in the studio to shoot the real thing. We were going to shoot some prom dress images on location but the cold weather and rain delayed that but we will catch up another day. So, we shot the whole shebang in the studio and mostly on white background! Here are a few from the shoot.

The Taylors in the studio

Jayne contacted me for a baby bump shoot a few weeks ago and today she came over from Barnsley with Ian and the boys, Jack and Isaac for the shoot. As well as the bump shoot, which included Ian, we also did a bit of a family shoot as well getting the boys giddy in front of the camera – I think the left over Maoams from yesterday’s fashion shoot helped get energy levels up for these two :¬) A fun shoot with some great images to show from it!

Leanne’s portfolio update

Leanne dropped by the studio to update her portfolio with a mix of some lifestyle and glamour photos. I’ve photographed Leanne on many occasions over the past years and we always seem to come up with some new images for her. Here are a few from the shoot many of which are natural light which is a little unusual for me :¬)

Estonia and the big freeze

Just got back from Estonia where the trip results were the exact opposite of the fabulous three days I had in Greece a couple of weeks ago! The Greek trip resulted in over 5000 images in three days while Estonia resulted in around 20!! The reason for lack of images was the incredible freeze creeping across eastern Europe with daytime temperatures between -24dg to -36dg! These extreme temperatures caused many bird species to move out of the area, including our target species, the white-tailed sea eagle. We were due three days in a hide to photograph this magnificent bird but after two days we didn’t even catch a glimpse, so we decided to cut our losses and shoot some wintry landscapes on the final day. The trouble with eagles is that they are very wary meaning we had to be in the hide in the dark by 06:30 and couldn’t come out of the hide until it was virtually dark again at 17:00hrs. So, once you’ve committed to the hide, you’re in there for the duration and despite the weather being fantastically sunny, we just couldn’t make any images. Not even the ravens were coming to the carcass which is unusual, but given that the carcass was as hard as granite, who can blame them?!

Here are a few landscapes taken on the last day. Thanks to our man on the ground, Jan, for guiding us around that day. At least we got a few images to remind us of the intensely cold, but beautiful Estonian landscape and we did manage to catch up with a hawk owl, a new species for me and a very beautiful and enigmatic bird that I’ve long wanted to see. Check out me shooting in the snow, then look at the back of the camera seconds after I took the shoot and see the frost that has formed from my breath on the camera and tripod head, then look at the temperature guage in the car just moments later as we left :¬o And by the way, they are wolf tracks in the snow in case you’re wondering.

I am sure I will be back in Estonia before too long to make some really nice nature images :¬)
