Met up with Sarah again a week after her short session in the studio last week, this time to complete her portfolio with a location shoot. We chose an old derelict workshop and a riding stable for the shoot – fashion always looks good when shot out of context! The grungy location gave me an opportunity to use some of my off-camera flash techniques to create some dramatic lighting using a couple of old speedlights with everything shot in manual mode. I love doing this kind of location work and while many photographers eschew the use of flash claiming to be ‘natural light’ photographers, for me it gives me the ability to control the light and blend the flash with ambient for some dynamic portraits. Here’s a few from the shoot and I will try and add a few more as I process them.
