Wakefield Glamour photographer: Glamour shoot for Channel 4

Firstly RTL TV from Germany, then Sky Living and now Channel 4 in the studio filming me during a shoot. This time the brief was to shoot a glamour set with Nikki with her dad there to see what goes on at a typical shoot. I know, you’re all wondering why her dad was there! Well, the gist of the programme is that it aims to follow every day folks through some kind of conflict where each side tries to persuade the other of the rights and wrongs of the cause. In this case, the dad doesn’t want his daughter to be a glamour model and so she’s invited him to a shoot to try and alay his anxiety and to show him how the shoots are not at all like most folks imagine. That’s where I come in – I was chosen to be the photographer to do the shoot while the Channel 4 filmed. Dad lost his nerve towards the end and left but we finished the shoot and got some good footage in the can as they say. Not sure when it will be aired but I will find out and post it here, maybe! I really don’t like being in front of the camera :¬(

To be honest, the images we shot were not too important and aren’t required for the show, it was more about filming the dad/daughter interaction. So, I kept everything simple but obviously, I was shooting for real and here are a couple of shots. As I don’t need to process these in a hurry they will go on the back burner as I have too many shoots and wedding albums to deal with at the moment. Will post more in a few days or so.

Wakefield portrait photographer: Sarah & family

A few weeks ago, Sarah booked a shoot as a present for her mum and dad and today she arrived at the studio complete with her family, mum and dad and her two sisters and their families all in one go! 17 folks in the studio is getting cosy as I don’t have a scoop and I’m limited to a 9′ wide infinity curve so it was getting a little tight for the big group shot though it turned out ok I think. The individual family shots were no problem and we had fun times working through those. Busy times ahead with a few more family shoots coming up in the next few weeks.

Wayne & Michelle’s wedding at Cedar Court, Huddersfield

Wayne and Michelle certainly know how to pick their days! The weather was positively balmy for their wedding at the Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top, Huddersfield today; warm sunshine and blue skies made it feel more like an April wedding than a November one and we certainly made the most of it for the photo shoot. I’ll bet they don’t get the same stuff on their honeymoon in the Lake District :¬o

Mossborough Hall Wedding photographer: Ben & Jenna Pre-wedding

An overcast and fairly grim day for today’s pre-wedding shoot with Ben and Jenna ahead of their Mossborough Hall wedding early next month but the dull light really brings out the autumn colours much more than bright sunshine. We met up among the leaves and cheeky squirrels of Sheffield Botanical Gardens for the pre-wedding meeting and shoot and, despite the soft muddy grounds and cold nip in the air, we had a good time and got some great shots. I think Jenna had some trepidations about being photographed which is why the pre-wedding shoot is such a great idea as it give the couple a chance to get to know me and to see how things will work on the big day. Ben and Jenna make a photogenic couple and I think we will get some great stuff on December 8th at Mossborough Hall :¬)

Commercial photographer Leeds: CCSkills shoot at West Yorkshire Playhouse

The West Yorkshire Playhouse was the setting for today’s shoot which was to photograph visiting schools being given a taster of what it would be like to work in theatre at the Playhouse. I was commissioned by CCSkills from London to photograph the event which was being put on by Creative Choices and hosted by John Meed, director at the Playhouse. The day started with an introduction by John Meed then it was onto the workshops where the kids had a go at sound, costume, make-up and stage management to name but a few of the sessions they attended. My brief was to photograph the kids during the workshops and to try and capture them engrossed in the activities and get some good natural shots. The sessions were so much fun and very interesting which meant everyone forgot I was there apart from the odd flash going off so getting natural, unposed shots was fairly easy – working in the cramped costume and warddrobe department trying to set up flashes was an entirely different ball game. However, I was able to get small strobes placed where I wanted them in most cases and came away with images which should fit the client’s brief nicely. Here are a few from the day.

Wakefield wedding photographer: Martin & Emma

What a stunning autumn day for the wedding of Emma & Martin today at Hotel St Pierre in Wakefield! There was never a doubt about getting down to Newmillerdam for the bridal party shoot and, although I’d have prefered to have been there an hour later in softer light, it was pretty spectacular with warm autmn sunshine and a lot of colour. The whole wedding took place at Hotel St Pierre where I met up with Emma and the bridesmaids for the bridal preps before nippimg out to catch Martin and the best men arriving in the suprise A-Team van that Emma had organised for him. The wedding cermony was a fun a happy occaision and everyone was in stitches as the registrar got Martin’s names the wrong way round during the vows! After mopping up on the formals and family shots in the limited surrounds of the hotel grounds, we headed down the road with Emma and Martin in their brother-in-law’s car which looked the part sprayed up with shaving foam and dragging tin cans along behind!

After seeing my work from another wedding where Emma was a bridesmaid, she immediately cancelled her booked wedding photographer and asked me to take his place! I am very flattered and honoured Emma did this and I hope I did her justice. We a had a fun day out and here are a few of the shots – enjoy!
