More press & PR photography this time for regular clients Redrow Homes. The brief was to get some images of several award winners to go along with a press release, so I headed over to York to meet up with the gang. I used an SB800 speedlight to give the images some pop and create the feel of differential focus whereby the main subject stands out from the image and as always, I shot 99% of the shoot with the 70-200 f/2.8 workhorse lens.
I travelled to Adel near Leeds today to shoot some press photography for Bellway Homes. I’ve worked as a press & PR photographer for Bellway on several occassions now and today’s brief was to create some dynamic images to go with a press release regarding Bellway Homes providing funds to refurbish the bowling pavillion at Adel Bowls Club. The day was very cold with a hard ground frost but blue skies and I knew that if I could get the bowling team outside, the images could be made to look spectacular. I needed shots with the pavillion in the background but this meant shooting directly into the sun but as an experienced professional photographer, this wasn’t a problem for me but more of an opportunity. I used a bare 500w Profoto B1 head to really hit the subjects hard and to overpower the sun which then became the fill light or backlight. The strong winter sun has given a lovely highlight to the backs of the bowls players and by under-exposing by about 2 stops, I’ve retained the detail in the sky. Here is my favourite image which I know the client will love and it will look tremendous alongside any press article. Another headshots shoot for a client whom I met as a bridesmaid 10yrs ago! It’s the first time I’ve seen Danni since the wedding and today she was in the studio for some headshots to go with her business profile on Instagram. The brief was for a few headshots and also some fitness shots which is the core of her business. Here are a few of the headshots we did which I really like.
I’m passionate about my work as a Wakefield glamour & beauty photographer and love to create some amazing images for my clients using creative lighting and props. Today I had a shoot with Aurora, an aspiring model, who had only had a couple of shoots previously and wanted to create some high quality images to boost her portfolio and increase her appeal to clients and other photographers. We had a fun shoot and I was really pleased with the images. Aurora, although not too experienced, was very good at posing and playing to the camera. We did a series of headshots, glamour and boudoir, a few of which I’ve posted here.
I’m often asked to create headshots for actors, musicians and authors and I always enjoy this style of portrait photography. Today, I was tasked with shooting some headshots for Sarah, a local author who has just had her first novel published and needed a photo of herself for the jacket cover. Sarah was, like most people, apprehensive about having her photograph taken, but a large part of my job is to make people relaxed and comfortable in order to get the best shot. Although the session took less than an hour, Sarah went from nervous to relaxed and we both love the final image which we agreed would look excellent on the dust jacket of her book. I don’t usually have the subject put their hands near their faces, but in this case, it spontaneously happened while we were joking around and that for me was the decisive moment! I presented the shot in black and white and I think it has a lot of impact.
My work as a portrait photographer sees me shooting various types of portraits from location to studio based and today was a studio shoot to create some high end beauty photography for a magazine submission. Sam was the model for the shoot and she is heavily tattooed which worked well for the images we had in mind and the style of magazine we were aiming for. All the shots were simply lit and on a black background using three Profoto B1x heads with various modifiers for different accesnt lighting. Here is a sample of the images we created and they were published within a week of shooting in two different magazines including a front cover!
