Boudoir Photographer Wakefield: Nicky

Boudoir photographer Wakefield: Just last week Nicky booked in for a Valentine boudoir shoot and today we were on set and shooting some fabulous ‘secretly gorgeous’ boudoir photos of her. There were no initial nerves and so the session went smoothly from the off and we worked our way through a variety sets and outfits. I think the photos clearly show that boudoir is for the young at heart and not just the young! It’s never to late to pack up your favourite lingerie items and pay a visit to the studio, I can guarantee you will have an amazing time and come away with some even more amazing images.

I shot all these images, which Nicky has kindly allowed me to post, using the Fuji X Pro-1. Regular blog followers will know that I bought one of these highly praised cameras and I am currently putting it through its paces and trying to familiarise myself with this beautiful retro styled piece of kit. In a further attempt to further my shooting style, I also lit all these images with hotlights rather than the usual large studio lights.

Weetwood Hall wedding photographer

Weetwood Hall wedding photographer

I met up with Libby and Jon today for a pre-wedding shoot and planning meeting because in just two weeks time I will be their Weetwood Hall wedding photographer when they get married in front of 200 guests at St Matthew’s Church at Chapel Allerton, Leeds and then on to Weetwood Hall. I first met Libby a couple of years ago when I provided the wedding photography at her brother Jonathan’s wedding at Coniston Cold Hotel near Skipton, amazing where time goes as I can remember his wedding as if it was yesterday! For today’s e-session we decided to meet at The Mansion in Roundhay Park and the weather couldn’t have been better; after all the rain we’ve had over the past couple of weeks, I was shocked to see blue skies and sunshine – maybe that’s a good omen for their big day. Despite suffering from a little trepidation about being photographed, Jon got into the swing of things quite early on and I think there are some great photos that his mum will like (apparently there are very few photos of him in existence!).

For the shoot I used the Fuji X Pro-1 with a variety of lenses but mainly worked with the 35 f/1.2 and 60 f/2.4 macro. This is the first time I’ve done a full shoot with this great little camera and it felt very different from using the huge Nikon D4 and 70-200 lens that I normally would use. There was another pre-wedding shoot going on and I am sure I saw the photographer give a disdainful look at my little ‘point-and-shoot’ but the proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say –  I will be using the big guns on the wedding day though :¬)

Portrait lighting demonstration

Tonight I delivered another of my portrait lighting demonstrations to Wakefield Camera Club using Laura as the model. Things were kept simple with the key light being a single 1m softbox set very close to the model and, for a hair light,  a deep reflector with 30dg honeycomb grid to keep the light tight. Simple set-ups like this are to do at home or in any small space using a couple of speed lights, off camera of course. if you’d like to have a 1-2-1 portrait lighting demonstration using simple lighting techniques or even more advanced lighting styles you can join me in the studio or send me an email to be notified of the up coming lighting workshops.

Wakefield Boudoir Photographer: Natalie Kate

Wakefield boudoir photographer: Natalie came over from Doncaster today for a boudoir and lingerie shoot in the studio. We’d been discussing a shoot since before Christmas but my workload at the time just meant it was impossible for me to find the time. Today though, we both ended up with a free afternoon so we quickly organised a session. The idea was to shoot some really nice natural light boudoir and then a couple of sets using studio lighting and I love what we did. Here are a few from the shoot  that should inspire some more ladies to head on over for one of my fabulous  ‘secretly gorgeous’ shoots.

Wakefield commercial photographer: Beaumont headshots

Wakefield commercial photographer:  Today I was back at Paragon Business Park to shoot a few more headshots for Beaumont Legal for their website and they also required some PR shots of a new employee. The headshots were straightforward enough, three-quarter portraits against a white background using three speedlights, but for the PR shots the image needed to be more visually appealing. The most obvious spot for a really good PR image was in the reception area using the feature wall as a backdrop. I used a single light balanced with ambient and a slightly upward angle to ensure the branding was in the photo and the results speak for themselves :¬)

If you are looking for a Wakefield commercial photographer to create some dynamic images for your business, just give me a call on 01924 22900 to discuss your requirements.

Wakefield commercial photographer: The Lights, Leeds

My last shoot for MK Illuminations was The Light in Leeds, a compact collection of bars, restaurants and cinemas that had a really nice feel to it. The lights had been put in by MK and styled by an interior designer and I have to say the scheme was really nice, very visual without  being overpowering. What was really nice was the glass atrium so no sickly fluorescent lighting to contend with!
