Natalie and John’s wedding at Healds Hall Hotel, Liversedge

Just a few days after the wedding planning meet and photoshoot of last Saturday, we were back at Healds Hall hotel for the real thing. The weather was a perfect spring day allowing us plenty of opportunities to shoot in the grounds while the guests enjoyed drinks on the patio. In the evening we did some further bridal portraits in and around the building using a bit of creative flash, a technique that I really enjoy doing. Natalie and John were very relaxed in front of the camera and we got some great images. We’re following up the wedding day with an E-session (Trash the Dress style shoot) over the next couple of weeks. I’ve a great location in mind if we can get a good sunset. Watch this space.

Natalie & John’s pre wedding shoot

Met up with Natalie and John at Healds Hall ahead of their wedding next Friday to go through the last minute planning. We also used the meeting as a quick photo session to get them used to being the centre of attention and having large lenses directed at them. Both John and Natalie soon got into the swing of things so, if the weather’s as good next Friday as it was today, we’ll get some great images for the album!

Test driving the new lens!

commercial photography in West Yorkshire

Nikon Professional Support kindly sent me a brand new Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 AFS-VR macro lens absolutely free of charge by way of a sweetener for some issues I had with their service recently. This is a £600 state of the art lens designed for close-up photography and is the latest in computer designed optics and nano coated lenses and, boy, is it sharp! (more…)

A new look BLOG

I’ve enjoyed keeping my blog up to date and posting snippets of what I’ve been up to photographically, but for a while I’ve been wanting the blog to be more interactive and to allow and encourage feedback or comments on the images and work I’m posting. So, with that in mind I give you the all new blog with full interactivity. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think;  is it too cluttered? Can you navigate easily? Is it intuitive and can you use the features easily?

Adders in the warm spring sunshine.

How do I relax after a hard day’s wedding shoot? Wrestling with adders as they bask in the warm spring sunshine of course! It’s very nerve wracking to grab one by the tail and try and man-handle it into a good photo position – they hiss and spit and are very strong – but if you have them by the tail, they cannot turn the full length of their body to bite you!

I did say I wouldn’t fill this blog with loads of wildlife stuff, but I’m just out with the camera all the time, so at the very least it illustrates my passion for taking images.

Diane & Dave’s wedding at the Holiday Inn, Tong

Diane and Dave chose the Holiday Inn at Tong, Bradford for their wedding venue. The civil ceremony in the Pastures was followed by an excellent reception in the restaurant. The weather, though fine, was very blustery and the wind chilling for the bride. Nevertheless we had a good photo session outside before moving into the warmth of the hotel to finish off the shoot.
