Hanson Bricks commission

Today I finished shooting a commission for new clients Hanson Bricks of Maidenhead. The brief was to photograph some completed building projects to show off the different styles of bricks available from the company. There were a selection of properties in Wakefield, Ossett and Cleckheaton to shoot and for each one I was to capture the building as a whole along with some ‘lifestyle’ detail shots. A warm welcome to Hanson and I’ve included a few images here taken as part of the commission.

A quick shoot with Leanne

I had a meeting with some clients today to go the through the art direction for a forthcoming catalog shoot later this month (watch this space around 29th!). I’m supplying the model for the shoot and I’m using my regular studio model  Leanne for the project and she’d also come along to the meeting to pick up the details for the job and also try on some of the clothes ahead of the shoot to make sure everything is going to fit on the day. After the meeting we decided to have a quick shoot as we haven’t worked together in ages! Here are a few images from the shoot, I love the lighting and its such a simple set up using only two studio heads with a softbox and a brolly reflector!

Jenna in the studio

Jenna-Leigh came along to the studio today for the portfolio shoot her mum had organised her as a Christmas pressie. We’d been due to shoot last month but flu got the better of both of us so we’d had to postpone until today. However, it was worth the wait and we got some great images from the session from fashion to swimwear. Jenna is wanting to get into modelling and promotions on a more permanent basis so the session was aimed at getting a good variety of looks and styles for the portfolio which I think we managed. Here are a few from the shoot and if you’d like to book a portfolio shoot, just give me a call on 01924 229800 or mail me from the contact pages above.

Maddy in the studio

My goodness! After a week of cancellations and postponement of shoots for various reasons, it was good to get back into the studio. Maddy came by for a portfolio shoot and was just such a natural in front of the camera it wasn’t hard for me to get a whole bunch of different looks and styles from one portfolio shoot! We worked hard and fast and changed backdrops and clothes in rapid succession and, after three hours, ended up with around 1500 images to edit! Here are a few from the very quick first edit. If you are interested in having a professional portfolio shoot done like Maddy’s, just give me a call on 01924 229800 or drop me a mail. All the details are on the contact pages at the top of the blog. You will end up with some seriously good images :¬)

Luke & Danielle’s pre-wedding shoot

Today I headed south to Nottinghamshire for a pre-wedding meet with Luke & Danielle. Their big day is later this month at Norwood Park, Southwell – a new venue for me and on first impressions it should be a good gig! Norwood Park is still very much a private residence but today it was open for prospective wedding couples to have a look around and so I took the opportunity of scouting the venue too. A tour of the house certainly revealed some fine indoor shooting opportunities in addition to the gardens so I’m looking forward to working there. From here I headed slightly futher south to Danni’s house where, after the wedding planning meeting, we had a bit of a pre-wedding shoot. As it was cold and grey with a biting wind, we did the shoot indoors, however, if we get some spring sunshine on the big day, it’s going to be a good one!

Vultures in the Pyrenees

For the past week I’ve been sat uncomfortably in a small hide high in the pre-Pyrenees photographing one of Europe’s most endangered and impressive birds ~ the lammergier vulture. Nature photography is where it all started for me and I still like to get out and shoot wildlife as much as I can, so I took four days off from the studio and commercial work to head out to Spain with a three friends from Belgium & Finland to photograph lammergier, griffon and black vulture amongst the high tops of the pre-Pyrenees mountains.

In the first picture you can see the small village where we stayed high in the alpine zone set against a backdrop of the very impressive, snow covered high Pyrenees and each morning we headed off to the hides at an area baited up with carrion to attract the vultures, ravens and eagles. At one point we put out the carcass of a huge male wild boar – it lasted less than 30 minutes once the griffon vultures landed and they took everything! Not a bone or trotter was left by the end! While the griffon and black vultures could be described as less than pretty, the adult lammergier is everything but ugly! The adults have a deep orange head and chest and fabulous red and white eyes all complemented by huge black beard-like feathers hanging from the beak (which is where it gets its other name of beareded vulture).

Here are a few images from the trip but I’ll be posting more on my wildlife website (currently undergoing a make-over), although I’ve over 80gb of images to sort through first. Back to the studio this coming week with a few boudoir and portfolio shoots to get through – quite the opposite of what I’ve been doing last week!
