Jewellery brochure shoot

It was a real girlie day in the the studio today – the whole place was awash with diamonds, furs and make-up for the shoot for a local jewellers in Huddersfield. Jodie, who works in the shop, was to be the model for the day and we had a top MUA & stylist Jessie Young who, although sounds like a wild west outlaw, was no cowboy when it came to the make-up! The shoot was to be a mix of high fashion and close-ups of the jewels and the idea is that the pieces being worn in each shot will be photographed individually and then the graphics guys will create brochure pages with each of the pieces blown up big alongside the main fashion image. Here’s a few of the fashion style images we did to be going on with.

Claire’s bridal boudoir shoot

Claire came along to the studio today for a bridal boudoir shoot in order to create a unqiue and personal gift for her partner on their wedding day in September. Boudoir albums are becoming so popular these days and it is such a special gift that will last forever. Claire initially came over to the studio a few weeks ago to chat about her shoot and get a feel for how it would go on the day. These pre shoot meetings are a great way of getting over the big nerves hurdle and a chance to meet me and to discuss exactly what you want. Most of all, its a chance for me to reassure you that the shoots are fun, friendly and relaxed. We shot a variety of styles in different locations around the studio including some dark sultry boudoir, through bridal boudoir to some really fun lingerie shots on the metal spiral staircase. The black leather storybook album is going to be a really stunning gift. Claire’s kindly allowed me to share a few images here.

If you’d like a chat about your boudoir shoot, just give me a call on 01924 229800 to arrange to come over to the studio

Kristian & Rachel pre-wedding shoot

I met up with Kristian & Rachel at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park today to go through their wedding plans in readiness for their big day at Cragrats Brasserie early next month. I chose YSP as it was about mid-way for both of us, but I hadn’t reckoned on the over zealous jobworths who objected to our using the sculptures as props in the photoshoot! After a little reasoning with them they allowed us to move to a quieter part of the park and left us to get on with it. Sheesh! After the shoot we went up to Cragrats to scout the venue and I have to say it was just as I remembered it and I reckon it will be a real cool place to shoot – very different from the usual venues and very much a boutique wedding. Oh, and the fillet steak I had for lunch was pretty good too :¬)

To learn more about my wedding photography and join me in getting thrown out of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park during pre-wedding shoots, go to the wedding pages on the main website.

Claire’s big lingerie shoot

Claire breezed into the studio today on what seemed like the hottest and brightest day so far. She’d booked to come over for a lingerie portfolio shoot – very popular these days – and we made the most of the summer light, shooting all around the studio to give us a variety of looks. If you’re thinking of a portfolio shoot to kick start your modelling or acting career, quite honestly, I think you’ll be hard pushed to get better than this anywhere in Yorkshire! Just give me a call on 01924 229800 to arrange your quality portfolio shoot, they’re fun sessions and very relaxed. For more information visit the portfolio pages.

Charlotte & James’ pre-wedding shoot

Met up with Charlotte and James this evening to go through the plans for their wedding early next month at Burntwood Hall and took the opportunity to have a bit of a pre-wedding shoot. Charlotte in particular seemed nervous but I think she soon relaxed once we got into the swing of things. If a couple is feeling a little daunted at the thoughts of having a camera pointed at them for a sustained period, then the pre-wedding shoot is a great way of  getting over the nerves and seeing just how relaxed it all is! I thought we got a few keepers anyway :¬)

A boudoir shoot for Abi

Abi was back at the studio again today to do a sultry boudoir shoot. A boudoir shoot is different to the usual fashion and glamour shoots in that I need to use low key (dark) lighting to create mood and atmosphere rather than bright summery images. Although I own a big range of professional studio lights, these images were created with a single Nikon SB28 speedlight! If any photographers are interested in coming on one of my “small flash, big light” workshops, just drop me a line or give me a call. More importantly, if you would like to have a chat or book a boudoir shoot for yourself, just give me a call on 01924 229800 or go the boudoir pages for more information.
