Lisa & Steven pre-wedding shoot at Kirkstall Abbey

Met up with Lisa and Steven at Kirkstall Abbey today for a pre-wedding meeting and a bit of a shoot. It’s less than a week to their wedding at the Holiday Inn at Tong near Guildersome so I was cutting it fine! We used the museum gardens for the shoot as Kirkstall Abbey looked to be crawling with folks due to the summer weather. The gardens, however, were really good and I suspect I’ll be doing a few more shoots there and it was devoid of people so no-one to bother us. Although it was a hot one today, its looking a little more unsettled for Lisa & Steve’s big day on Friday but I still think we’re going to end up with some great images!

Rachel & Kristian at Cragrats Brasserie

It doesn’t seem two minutes since Rachel & Kristian’s pre-wedding shoot at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, but here we are on their big day at Cragrats Brasserie on the moorland fringes of Holmfirth. The Brasserie is renowned for its fine food and now I can recommend it for its weddings too! Never has finer food been served at a wedding! The canapes were to die for and and the wedding breakfast was exquisite: I don’t normally eat at a wedding shoot, but Rachel provided me with the same meal as they had I can say the beef Wellington was truly scrumptious! Oh! And the wedding wasn’t bad either ;¬) All that talk of food distracted me.

Rachel got ready for the wedding at their house in Lindley before heading up to Cragrats where the small group of family and friends were waiting. Everything was so laid back and relaxed and the number of guests, around 50, filled the Brasserie without overcrowding. We shot a lot of stuff around the grounds prior to the wedding breakfast (did I mention the food?) and then afterwards, despite my feeling soporific and just desperate to have a lie down after the big meal, we shot some more boutique style images around the Brasserie itself. I’ve loads of images to go at but here are a few to be going on with :¬)

Santander Bank PR shoot

Got a call from Citigate, a London PR firm, to shoot some images for Santander Bank but unfortunately it wasn’t to be snapping Lewis Hamilton and the F1 team! Instead, I was shooting PR images for the bank for a press release to cover their deal helping local plant hire firm AFI Uplift with their expansion programme. The shoot took place at the AFI premises at the Europort at Normanton where I was tasked with photographing three representatives of Santander and the Financial Director of AFI Uplift. The brief was to get the typical PR shots of the guys shaking hands and closing the deal, however, the chaps wanted none of that, so instead I went more for the ‘power’ group shot with folded arms and all very “Dragon’s Den” like. The difficulty was in getting the huge brand new cherry picker in the frame while keeping the guys as the main subject. Here are a few images from the shoot.

Leigh’s portfolio shoot

Air hostess Leigh hit the studio today during a leave period to have a portfolio shoot for no other reason than she wanted to! No asperations to become a model, just wanting a great set of images that she can put in an album as a keepsake. Partly she wanted to do it because she felt she isn’t photogenic and that she didn’t have any flattering pictures of herself and she said she always avoids having her photo taken – her fiancee had persuaded her otherwise. I agree with her fiancee and after the usual nervous start to the shoot, she was soon relaxed and enjoying herself. A petit girl with a really great figure and elfin face, she made a great subject and it was easy to come up with a mixture of portraits, fashion and some lingerie images that will hopefully convince her she’s not too bad looking after all!

Rachel & Ben pre wedding shoot at Nostell Priory

Rachel and Ben aren’t due to tie the knot at The Cedar Court, Huddersfield until late October, but seeing as I’ve many busy wedding-filled weekends between now and then, coupled with the fact that they live in the beautiful county of Northumberland, it seemed a good idea to catch up with them this weekend while they were down visiting Rachel’s parents. We met at Nostell Priory for the shoot which was also part of my cunning plan to kill two birds with one stone! I am currently commissioned by National Trust to photograph the parkland and gardens in summer for images to go in the ‘meet and greet’ hut and I thought I could use Rachel and Ben (and Buster the dog) as models for the NT shoot too :¬) Despite initial trepidation, I think they soon got used to the idea of being photographed and we ended up with some really nice pre-wedding images as well as some lifestyle images that the Trust will be able to use at Nostell. Here are a few images in both styles of photography.

Charlotte & James at Burntwood Court, Brierley

Another fine summer’s day, this time for the wedding of Charlotte and James who were married at St Mary’s Church, Badsworth before moving on to the reception at Burntwood Court at Brierley. St Mary’s Church is a great location for photographs but with proceedings running a slightly late, we did most of the formals at Burntwood which is a little more challenging for the photographer but we captured some really nice intimate portraits of Charlotte & James before the wedding breakfast. Then later in the evening, we hit a location I had scouted a few days prior to the wedding to do some romantic woodland images for the storybook album before finishing the evening with a slideshow using 70 images from the day’s events!
