Scott & Janine at Cedar Court Hotel

My first real wet wedding of the year and what a day! The rain was torrential! Still, we made the best of it and managed to keep the bride and groom dry although me and the cameras were drenched by the end of the day! Here are just a few sneak preview images, I’m working on a slideshow but I wanted to get a few online before Scott & Janine hit the airport for a month long honeymoon in Australia. They will be able to pick up the slideshow while they’re out there but not on the iPhone while they’re in the airport.            STOP PRESS slideshow now added

Fashion photography: Excite Clothing

Callum & Claire of Excite Clothing were back in the studio today to shoot some more images for the Excite e-shop, this time for the plus size range. Our model for the day was Jenna who’d travelled over from Manchester for the shoot and she did a sterling job for us. Jenna is very photogenic and I really would have liked to have done some beauty portraits of her but no time for that as we went through the clothing range. In the end we finished about half an hour early so I suggested we make the most of the autumn sunshine and shoot a few impact shots at the back of the studio. We nipped round the back with Jenna sporting a knitted poncho and within 15mins had some killer shots in the bag with even enough time to shoot another set on the spiral staircase. I would’ve liked another light for the staircase shot to use as a kicker (my normal set up) but because I’d only taken a single studio light and 24″ softlighter for the outdoor shots, that’s all I had to play with. For the outdoor shots I made the bright sunshine the secondary light source with the softlighter as key and by moving around I  could also include some  very strong flare for a different look. Here are a few shots from the shoot.

Commercial photography: Trinity Walk Car Park

The fifth and final shoot of the day was Trinity Walk ‘gull wing’ over Sainsbury’s looking from the car park. The brief was to shoot across a busy car park to the shopping mall to give a sense of how popular the place is with shoppers so that the advertising agency can use the images to tempt new businesses into the few remaining vacant units. I’ve tried these shots before, uite sucessfully, using a set of ladders against the trolley parks, but it was bever enough height. So, I suggested they clear it with the TW management team to raise the exit barrier and allow me to bring my motorhome onto the site to give me a much greater working height by standing on the roof. It was either that or a cherry picker and in the end they opted for my motorhome suggestion, although I was only allowed to come on site from 4pm onwards which meant the car park was thining out a bit and defeated the shot. So, if you were at Trinity Walk today and saw a photographer on top of a motorhome taking pictures of the car park and mall, that would be me! I have to admit to being frazzled after a 5:00am start for the trains, two commercial shoots and two baby shoots all in one day! Time for a beer I think :¬)

Charlene, Alan and Nevaeh

I did Charlene’s bump shoot just a couple of weeks ago and today she was back with Alan and new arrival Nevaeh for the floow on baby shoot. At just a couple of weeks old, Neveah was a joy to shoot – very placid and asleep for the whole of the shoot. The fourth shoot from today so again, only a few images until I get round to the edits.

Cruze and the gang

I did a bump shoot with Stacie around 12 months ao and today she was back in the studio with the new arrival, Cruze, who is now just a few weeks short of being one. The name Cruze was quite apt as he was just like a cruise missile scuttling all around the studio without a moment’s pause making it almost impossible to get a family group shot or even a shot with just the three kids! We managed a few in the end and when I’ve had a chance to go through the images, I, sure we will have something. As this is shoot number three from today, just a few for now and more as edit later!

Trinity Walk Event Photography

A mad dash from Goathland back to wakefield just in time to cover the “How to look good Wakey’d” event in Trinity Walk. This was the first of two Trinity Walk commissions for today, with some more gull wing shots for later in the day. The event took place outside Debenham’s and involved four members of the public who were selected for a makeover by four different shops and the one voted best made over, got to walk away with £500 pending money. Just a few shots from this.
