Megan’s fashion shoot

Megan has recently returned from a spell in California and has set about concentrating on her career as a glamour and fashion model now she’s back in the UK, so today she was at the studio for a portfolio shoot. We shot a variety of outfits against different sets in the studio and also a few outside in the spring sunshine, although I think Megan felt it was cooler out there than in California ;¬) My favourite shots were the fashionista series in the armchair and also those against the glass balustrade around the mezzanine floor. Here are just a few from the shoot, definitely more to follow once I get some other edits out of the way.

To book me for your fashion and glamour shoot, call the studio on 01924 229800 for a chat – you will come away with some great images like Megan did!

Matt & Joanne at Bagden Hall

So, it’s Friday 13th and only two weddings taking place in the whole of Kirklees according to the registrars! One of them was Joanne and Matt getting hitched at Bagden Hall at Scissett and despite my superstitious reservations, it all went off without a hitch – not even a drop of rain! I did err on the side of caution though and had three camera bodies with me as well as extra batteries, flash cards and I even took a couple of studio heads along in case we had to shoot indoors! However, Matt and Joanne had no reservations whatsoever and in fact Steph, Matt’s sister and bridesmaid, was born on Friday 13th so, it being her birthday, it was extra cakes all round! The cool morning gave way to a fairly mild afternoon and we managed a shoot around the grounds at Bagden and had done most of the bridal party when we realised that David, the usher, wasn’t there and gone into the bar with the other guests not realising he was required for the shots! None of us realised he wasn’t there ’till my numbers didn’t stack up when I was try to get the bridal party to link arms!  Still, it all turned out well in the end. Here is a slideshow for those sans Apple mobile devices and for those iPeople with restricted internet access, there are a few still from the day. Click on the first image to play the slideshow.

Ben & Dannii: couples shoot

Ben and Dannii came by the studio today to confirm me as their wedding photographer for their big day next April and also to have a fun and glamorous couples shoot, kind of in the style of the Calvin Klein ads. I decided to go with a darkish grey background for the majority of the shoot but to also use a white wall for some different shots. I’ve photographed Dannii before and also used her as a model on some of my lighting workshops but, although I’ve met Ben before, this was the first time I’d photographed him and the first time he’s been in front of a camera. I think, however, if he chose to change his career path, modelling would be a good option for him  :¬) I used a three light set-up but the main light was the incredible Bowens Octa 90 which has such a soft and even light distribution; it’s really awesome. Here are a few shots from the shoot.

If you’d like a couples photo shoot like Dannii and Ben, then just call me on 01924 229800 to have a chat or make a booking.

Trinity Walk: Handmade Burger Co.

Today I was back in Trinity Walk shooting the Handmade Burger Co. restaurant that had just recently opened and also picking up a few press shots of the Easter egg hunt taking place around the mall. Unfortunately, we met with typical bank holiday weather and cool temperatures and drizzle meant there weren’t too many hardy folks eating outside. The restaurant utself was busy and I have to say the meaty smells emanating from there did make my mouth water, but no time for eating while shooting. I grabbed a photogenic young couple who were just about to enter and sample the delights of the burger bar and got them to pose and I snagged some really nice shots of Ollie and Laura before letting them get on and enjoy their lunch. Despite the drizzle, the Easter egg hunt seemed to be attracting a lot of attention and there weren’t too many eggs left out of the original 300+ by the time I got there to shoot!

Laura’s boudoir shoot

Laura booked me for a boudoir shoot which I decided to shoot on location at a friend’s flat in Leeds. I really like the location work as it gives me dufferent challenges in terms of lighting and also gives me different sets to work in. I usually keep the lighting minimal just because its a lot of gear to haul around and often on location I am usually working in less space than the studio. For this shoot I decided to afford myself the luxury of one 500w studio flash and the rest of the lights were the SB800 speed-lights. We used as much of the flat as possible and I think we ended up with some really nice images for Laura to choose from.

To book me for your fabulous boudoir shoot, just call the studio on 01924 229800. You are welcome to drop by and chat about your shoot and look at some fabulous sanples.

Gina’s first studio shoot

Just as the Excite contingent left the studio, Gina arrived for a short session to get a few shots f0r her portfolio. Gina and I had been due to shoot on location with two other models for a local lingerie shop but at the last minute the new stock was delayed so had to postpone but Gina dropped by anyway. We only had around half an hour and will do another portfolio shoot very soon to get some awesome images from the better sets in the studio but here are a few for now. fashion photographer WakefieldWakefield fashion photographermodel portfolio photographer WakefieldWakefield studio & fashion photographer glamour photographer Wakefieldmodel portfolio photographer Wakefield and Leeds
