As a West Yorkshire product photographer I get commissioned to shoot quite a range of items but the session I’ve just finished was one of the toughest assignments yet! I was tasked by Precision Badges of Harrogate to photograph over 100 pieces for their new website – how difficult can that be I thought! I should have realised when, during the initial enquiry they said they’d had several photographers try and fail already, that it might be more difficult than first imagined. The main problem is that many of the badges are small and they are also shiny, so it means working at high magnification and trying to limit specular highlights! The other problem is that gold lettering will look silver if not lit correctly and silver lettering will look black! To cut a long story short, it took a few trial runs but eventually I managed to pull it off and now have another satisfied client :¬)
