A winter wedding can throw up any combination of weather from rain to snow or even, as we had to day, mild and bright conditions, perfect for wedding photography! Jane and Steve were married at Hollins Hall, Baildon today and despite an ominous looking sky to begin with, the weather turned out great and with only a minor chill to the air we were able to get outside for the photos. The ground was pretty wet, however, and I have to admit to being wet through and covered in mud by the time I’d finished rolling in the brambles and lying on the lawn for the best angles (this is why I will never turn up to a wedding dressed like one of the guests!) but it was worth it for me as a low shooting point can yield some great results and illiminate distractions (read parked cars!) in the background. We were slightly unfortunate that, just as we began with the wedding couple photos, the sun dipped behind a large bank of grey cloud never to be seen again but with a bit of fill from a speedlight softened with a large softbox, we came away with some keepers :¬)
judith fordI had a few tears in my eyes when I looked through the photos of Jane and Steve’s wedding. John has captured your special day beautifully. You look stunning Jane! xx
