Excite Clothing were back in the studio today to finish off the plus size range and to shoot a few more impact shots but also to do a few more shots in the size 10 range. For the plus size we used Jenna again, while for the size 10 we used a new model, Bianca – a Romanian exchange student. When I met Bianca, my first impression was that she was quite shy, maybe because of the language barrier, but in front of the camera, she was awesome! It is a real talent when models can perform for the camera, changing poses and expression, and it gives a real input into the shoot and, of course, makes my job easier as I can concentrate on the shoot without having to think about directing the model. I think Claire and Callum of Excite Clothing along with me, thought we’d found a new star and the face of Excite, only to discover Bianca is only in the UK until December before moving on to Rome to finish her studies! Grrr! I think we’re going to have to use her again very soon before she disappears!
After shooting the size 10s, we finished off the plus size range, mainly winter coats which weren’t in stock at the last shoot, but we also shot a few more impact shots for flyers and promotions. I’d noticed a location with a lot of potential just recently as I passed Thornes Park, so I decided to give it a go there for the shots, thinking the autumn colour would be good for the shots and as it turned out, along with glorious autumnal sunshine, it was! We shot all the impact shots in around 20 minutes keeping the lighting very simple but at the same time enhancing the autumn feel. I co-opted Callum as a lighting assistant and showed him just what a California Sunbounce really can do, while adding a little fill with a CTO’d speedlight set at around 1/4 power. Here are a few from the shoot.
