Fuji X Pro-1 boudoir shoot with Alice

Wakefield boudoir photographer

Alice first came to me for her model portfolio shoot about 18 months ago and has been back one other time since, so today was our third shoot and probably the best yet! Although Alice is tiny at just 5 feet 1 inch tall, she really does photograph well and has some great ideas for the shoots. Although we did several different sets today, I really liked the feel and style of this boudoir set using the Fuji X Pro-1. I’ve been using the X Pro-1 for a couple of months now but not for anything too serious, as it’s taken me a while to get used to shooting with this very much non-DSLR camera! To be fair, I have used it on a couple of pre-wedding shoots and quite a few of my recent shots for Palmer & Duncan vets were done with the little jewel but today, for the first time, I felt like I finally gelled with the camera.

I set the picture control to black & white R (red filter) so that I could see on the back of the camera the effect that the lighting would give me. Of course, I shoot RAW files so once on the computer they are displayed as colour and I simply create a JPEG from the RAW file after making any tweaks and adjustments and then convert the final image to mono in post, usually with CS6. The lighting was my usual mix of tungsten and flash to get some gorgeous soft sunlight effects which I adore at the moment. The beauty of this set up is that it is entirely created by me so I could get this same effect even if it is after dark! For the images I used the 35mm f/1,2, the 60mm macro with its fabulous ‘bokeh’ effect and I actually used the 55-200mm which I rarely use!  The result is a gorgeous set of beautiful feminine beauty shots that will look stunning in an album or as a set of prints. I’ve presented them here as black and whites, some with a soft sepia effect, which is how I envisaged the images and, just for comparison, the opening shot is a colour version shot on the Nikon D600.

To book me to shoot you some beautiful boudoir images, just call the studio on 01924 229800 for a chat and if you’re keen to have a go at this kind of photography yourself, just call the same number to book a training session.
