Daisy & Jumble in the Studio

A couple of boisterous clients in the studio today in the form of two labrador dogs, Daisy and Jumble. The aim of the shoot was to capture a great portrait of the two dogs sitting side by side which was never going to be as easy as it sounds! Getting the dogs to sit still for more than a few moments was a Herculean task in itself and required lots of doggy treats but we managed it eventually (in a fashion!) although Daisy, the black lab, was a bit more patient with us and she did sit for some really nice solo portraits. Just a few sample images for now as I am bogged down with other edits from recent shoots!

Wakefield wedding photographer: pre-wedding Michelle & Wayne

I left the studio after the family shoot and went to meet up with Wayne and Michelle who’s wedding I’m doing at The Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top next month. The aim was to go through the wedding day getting the timings, names of key players and having a run down of the photo schedule before finishing the meeting with a pre-wedding shoot. The evening light was absolutely superb for the pre-wedding session but the midges were equally outrageous and took lumps out of my scalp! However, the images were worth the pain and here are a few from the shoot :¬) I just hope we get light like this on their wedding day in November!

Wakefield family portrait photographer: Simpsons & Gardners

A whole section of the Gardner clan came round to the studio today for a family shoot to mark a milestone birthday of my Aunt. My parents thought it would be a great gift from them if we did a family shoot of my aunt and uncle with all their kids and grandkids and got it framed up. So, that’s what we did. Although it was billed as a group shoot for all the family, we also shot all the other combos possible of my two cousins and their spouses and kids. Wakefield baby bump photographer: Leanne & Lee

I got a phone call from Leanne a few weeks ago to see about booking a baby bump shoot and, at the time, she was based in Bristol but her partner Lee was based here in Pontefract and after looking at a few photographers, they decided to book with me. With only 4 weeks to go before baby arrives, Leanne is now based up here permanently and so Leanne and Lee came to the studio tonight but not alone! They tipped me off that they are taking part in a reality TV series that tracks the life of 10 couples who are having a baby for the first time and the show will air on Sky Living. So, as well as the couple we had film-maker Zoe from Sky Living in on the shoot with us filming Leanne and Lee as they posed bravely for the cameras. This is the second time in just a few months that I have had the film crews in with us and I have to say I still hate being in front of the camera! Fortunately this time I wasn’t being interviewed and I soon forgot about the video camera and I think we came up with some nice images. Leanne just wanted simple shots, mostly in black and white, so that’s what we did :¬)

Wakefield Glamour photographer: Chloe

I shot Chloe a couple of years ago when she booked me for a portfolio shoot but soon afterwards she became a mum and has been out of the modelling scene for a couple of years now. However, being still only 21, she’s back and came to me for a new shoot to boost her portfolio and I decided to take her to one of my apartment locations for the the shoot. We only had around 90mins due to an unforseen problem but despite the limitations, we managed a good set of images. We will shoot again very soon to add a few more outfits and styles to her portfolio.

Wakefield wedding photographer: Emma & Martin pre-shoot

This morning I met up with Emma and Martin at Thornes Park for a pre-wedding shoot and to go through the plans for their big day later this month at Hotel St Pierre. I met Emma when she was a bridesmaid at another wedding I shot earlier in the year and, after seeing the blog photos from that wedding, she decided to book me. We decided to meet up for the pre-wedding shoot at Thormes Park where the trees are just starting to get some autumn colour. If we get a good sunny day on 20th, I think the autumn leaves at Newmillerdam will be a stunning backdrop to the wedding photos :¬)
