Commercial photography: Charter Square, Burnley

Straight from dumping the cards from the Bicester shoot I was heading up to Burnley to shoot the lights in Charter Square shopping centre. Not on the same scale as Bicester but a neat little centre nevertheless and spotlessly clean with not a speck of litter anywhere! The lights were mostly around the main square in front of Burnley market and the beauty of this place was the balcony which allowed me to get some height to give me a different perspective.

Bicester Village Christmas Lights Shoot

A shoot down in Oxfordshire today to catch the Christmas lights at Bicester Village for MK Illuminations. I’d never heard of Bicester Village but apparently it is one of, if not THE busiest shopping centres in Britain and it’s a shoppers paradise if you are into that kind of thing and have a wallet to match! Every shop is a designer brand; Gucci, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Luois Vuitton etc and even the snack bars are branded with names like Jamie Oliver serving your hot dog or burger! The chalet style buildings looked spectacular bejewelled with MK’s famous lighting and I had great fun shooting here. As I headed back to my car past the valet parked Porches and Range Rovers, I decided to shoot some double exposure images complete with zoom blur just to see what effects I could come up with. There’s one here to give you an idea along with the normal shots.

WMDC 2013 brochure work: Industry

Had a quick tour of some of the industrial estates in Wakefield today to shoot some images with an industry and commerce theme for Wakefield Council. Lots of images to edit, but only one for now as I have some other stuff to edit plus I need to sort out for the next shoot for MK Illuminations.

Wakefield Commercial photographer: WMDC 2013 brochure

I’ve just been commissioned by Wakefield Council to shoot images for their 2013 brochure and new website. The deadlines are tight though, with the first batch of images required by 19th December which has given me just a little over a week to shoot a whole raft of stuff. This, combined with the Christmas lights shoots for MK Illuminations which are as far apart as Gloucester, London and Oxford, plus all the Christmas orders from family shoots and weddings, my days are pretty full at the moment to say the least!! I can’t afford not to be out shooting just now and here are some images I did this morning of the new council head office, plus some other buildings around Wakefield to illustrate the commerce and finance sector. Loads more to come over the next few days.

Mosborough Hall Wedding: Ben & Jenna sneek peek!

Fabulous day for a wedding! A December wedding could deliver anything from rain to heavy snow but today we had super winter sunshine for Ben and Jenna’s wedding at Mosborough Hall. The old barn where the ceremony took place felt cosy and romantic lit by candles and fairy lights but a nightmare to shoot in! The winter sunshine meant it wasn’t too difficult to get all the guests outside for the big group shot but they were soon off to the warmth of the barn the minute we gave the the ok! Anyhow, I promised a few more photos from the day and here they are. With commercial shoots every day at the moment and all over the country too, I’ve just knocked up a few montages. Enjoy

Commercial photography: Gloucester Quays

Another shoot for MK Illuminations but a change of plan and instead of Bicester, I followed in Dr Foster’s footsteps and went down to Gloucester in a shower of rain! However, unlike him, I missed the puddles and concentrated on some twilight photography of the Christmas lights. On arrival I reported to reception to let them know I was on site and to ask about where the lights were located, in particular the outside ones. I was told there were only the ones at the front so I concentrated on those only to find that, by accidentally taking a wrong turn out of the arcade, I stumbled upon some awesome tree lights at the back of the building! So much for the staff on site being clued up! I still managed to shoot them but once the sky has gone dark, it becomes very difficult to expose for the lights and the darkness. Just a few as I am shooting a wedding tomorrow and then I have to start work on another big commercial commission (more on that later) as well as more light shoots!
