Wakefield Glamour Photographer: Sandra

Sandra booked her first professional glamour shoot with me a couple of days ago and today we were on location to shoot it. Although never having had a go at glamour modelling in front of a camera before, Sandra was quite natural and I think we got some cracking images for portfolio. Already, they’ve been getting lots of ‘likes’ and comments on Facebook so hopefully the shoot did the trick for her. She sent me a lovely thankyou note and commented on how much she’d enjoyed the shoot and how relaxed it was. She’s also already booked in for a return visit and recommended a friend who’s also booked in. I really enjoy it when I’ve done a good job :¬)

Commercial photographer Wakefield: Wood Street

Continuing with the shoot for WMDC, today I was on Wood Street photographing the police station, County Hall and the college. I managed to get on top of the police headquarters for some almost aerial views of Wood Street but the light wasn’t in my favour. Still, I can shoot these again in a few weeks when all the cherry blossom is out to give us a different feel to the images – the problem with shooting everything just now is that all the shots have a winter feel. Hopefully, the commission will stretch to shooting throught the seasons.

Studio Lighting Workshop: NEWARK

studio lighting workshop, Wakefield

studio lighting workshop

Just got back from a lighting workshop/demo to the portrait group of  Newark Photographic Club who kindly invited me down after seeing my portfolio presentation at their camera club last December. I decided to keep things really simple and show some effects that could be achieved using a single light source, something anyone can do at home or on location quickly and easily with something as simple as a speedlight and shoot through brolly. This type of lighting lends itself nicely to conversion to mono.

When using studio flash, I have a custom white balance of 4760K which I find works well the the Nikon D4 but as you can see from the evolution montage, I forgot to set the white balance before shooting as I was busy explaing about the lighting! On auto WB, I find the D4 gives a yellow cast to the image when used with the Bowens 500 studio lights. In the shot you can see I corrected the white balance (which now looks red when converted to Web colour!!), then changed to black & white then finally used a warm tone on the image for the final shot.

Sneak preview: New website

It’s a crazy world of work, work, work I’m in at the moment! I have commercial commissions on the go, wedding albums, wedding galleries to sort, portrait, glamour and boudoir shoots, baby bump shoots on the go, quotes for commercial shoots and on top of all that I am desperately trying to rewrite my very old and outdated website. I keep adding new pages here and there and hopefully it will be live before the end of Feb! Here’s the new front page and a sample page to give a flavour of the new look and feel! Must get a portrait for the Twitter feed – anyone know a decent photographer? ;¬)

Wakefield Glamour Photographer: Danielle

Danielle has had a hankering to try some glamour photography for a while now and as she’s just turned 18 she decided to give it a go. She’s had two shoots with a couple of ‘photographers’  and was gutted by the poor quality of the images which would have given her little chance of getting any work ahead of all her competition. However, Danielle was recommended to me by another model who’s portfolio I had shot and so she called by the studio today for a chat to see if I really could get her the kind of images that would help set her on her way to a modelling career. She’d brought a couple of lingerie sets on spec, so we decided to shoot one session as a trial to show her what I could do as a professional glamour photographer and I suggested we do a shoot in the studio’s bathroom. So, that’s exactly what we did and these are some of the images. You can guess that Danielle was pleased as punch and is now booked to come back for a full portfolio glamour shoot :¬)

If you want to have a glamour shoot AND get pictures that would grace any magazine page, just call me for a chat on 01924 229800 or drop me a mail. You can always add me on Facebook too where you will see a great deal more of my work (www.facebook.com.johngardnerphoto)

Wakefield Boudoir photographer: Lesley

Wakefield professional boudoir and glamour photographer covering Leeds and West Yorkshire

Wakefield boudoir photographer

Lesley was back with me today for some boudoir shots for her agency website. I’ve shot images for Lesley’s portfolio on at least three occasions now and, although she is a full time model working with lots of photographers, Lesley always comes back to me for her portfolio updates :¬) I took her to one of my often used locations for the shoot, just to get something different for her as we have used my studio on the other occassions so I wanted different settings. I mostly shot using three 500w monoblocs with grids and a large softbox but I did do some natural light stuff too which is kind of unusual for me!
