Wakefield fashion photographer: Rebecca

Rebecca booked a shoot with me last year just after her 17th birthday and today she was back to celebrate her 18th with another shoot. There’s a lot going on in the studio with workmen hammering and banging and while repointing and installing a new kitchen, so we headed of to one of my locations to do a bit of a fashion shoot. Rebecca brought her mum along to act as stylist and make-up artist and I also roped her in for carrying lighting gear into the apartment :¬) We shot several outfits and styles in the tropical themed suite and here are just a smaple as I am busy with ther edits just now! The studio works should be complete after the weekend and we have scheduled another shoot to finish off in studio.

Hey Green wedding: Leigh & Sarah

A snowy wedding at the Hey Green Hotel, a small country house hotel nestling in the foothills of the Pennines at Marsden, just about as far west as you can get in West Yorkshire before going over the borders! Leigh and Sarah chose this neat little venue for their wedding some time last year when they first approached me to do their wedding photography, but little did they know there would be trouble ahead. Just as we met up for the pre-wedding shoot in January, they were informed the hotel had gone into liquidation! Although they were assured their wedding was safe, I think they were a little worried about the whole affair as they were told all weddings up to and including April 7th were safe then it was all over! Many brides have lost their deposits and are in trouble looking for new venues – imagine being told just a few weeks before your wedding that it was off and you had to find somewhere else! A salutary lesson for any couples reading this, make sure you are insured!

Anyway, Leigh and Sarah’s wedding did take place and it went off without a hitch and even the weather smiled on us with (for the most part), blue skies and sunshine and an amazing snowy rugged landscape as backdrop to the celebrations. The sun disappeared briefly during the photo shoot and we even got a few snow flurries but we did all the photography outdoors and I think we got some great images. Following the reception, we did a couples shoot for many of the guests, making use of the lovely conservatory as the backdrop before moving onto the grand staircase to finish with some shots of the bride and groom before heading into the disco for the first dance.

My first and, likely, only shoot at Hey Green as word on the street says a developer has bought it to turn it into his private residence! Can’t be bad. Here are a few images from the key moments of the day with lots more to go at.

Wakefield baby bump photographer: Sonya & Wayne

I met Sonya a few years ago when she was a bridesmaid at a wedding I photographed and we subsequently got together to photograph her in the studio a couple of times. We last met at her brother’s wedding (Martin & Emma) last October when she also introduced me to partner Wayne and her beginnings of a baby bump. Today, with only three weeks to go till baby is due to put in an appearance, Sonya and Wayne were in the studio for a baby bump shoot. I ditched the usual white sweep and went instead for a barley coloured one which I think goes really well with Sonya’s skin tones. We did some lovely relaxed images of Sonya and also of them as a couple before I switched to a black curve to shoot some low key images. I’m really pleased to be able to share a few of the gorgeous shots we created and, as Sonya is a fan of b&w, I’ve presented a few here in that style but boy, they look just as good in colour too :¬) A really great shoot with so many images to choose from it will be a hard task to edit them down.

Wakefield glamour photographer: Suzie

Suzie made a return visit to the studio today to update her portfolio. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Suzie so it was good to catch up and shoot some new stuff for her. We did the usual glamour styles, starting with some fun Easter bunny images on the vintage green sweep and also purple sweep, before shooting some lingerie in the bedroom and bathroom. Got some great stuff as ever as Suzie is easy to work with and if anyone wants to try their hand at a glamour shoot as a 1-to-1 or a small group shoot with Suzie and me, just drop me a line or give me a call. Wakefield portrait photographer: The Pullans

The Pullan family hit the studio today for a family shoot for the grandparents. They had all gathered from around the country for a family celebration and while they were together they decided to have a family shoot of the grandparents with all their grandchildren, including Adam, who at two weeks old came just in time.

Beauty shoot: Nicola

Despite the snowy forecast, Nicola came over to the studio today for a classic beauty shoot. I’ve known Nicola for a while as she’s my dental nurse and I’ve previously taken a few commercial portrait shots of her when I did a shoot for the dental practice she works for. A studio shoot has been on the back burner for a while now but Nicola’s only just plucked up courage to contact me via Facebook to see about coming over. She nearly bottled it again today so I suggested just to drop by for a test shoot and see how she felt, then we would do another shoot in a short while. So, that’s what we did and she was nervous at first and it does show in the early images, but as you can see from the first image below (which is one of the last shots we did), her nerves disappeared and she relaxed and we shot some amazing feminine beauty portraits! I had intended to shoot on location, maybe Newmillerdam or Seckar Heath but the miserable weather put paid to that. I think the next shoot will be outdoors though with a bit of luck. I have some nice ideas for a shoot.
