Nostell Priory wedding photographer: Melissa & Ian

Phewee, what a scorcher! 29ºC is too hot for a wedding in my books but that’s what we had for Melissa and Ian’s wedding today at Nostell Priory. Melissa stayed at Oulton Hall the night before the wedding so that’s where we headed for the prep shots and bridal portraits and we should have had some good shots there of Melissa leaving for church but unfortunately, the hair and make up team overshot things really badly and we ended up leaving to get to the groom at Wragby church without even firing a shot! The make-up girls are often slow and think they have all the time in the world but today’s was in another league and the Melissa had to jump into her dress with only 20minutes to spare and speed off to church! Apart from the make-up fiasco, everything else went swimmingly and Ian and Melissa were married at Wragby church and then down to Nostell Priory for the wedding reception. The rose garden was in superb condition for the drinks and canapes and the guests enjoyed the sun and the beautiful sounds of Alexandra’s electric violin while we did the formals and the shots of the bride and groom. After the wedding breakfast, the summer evening light was awesome and we had a quick stroll down to the lake for a few final shots before the first dance and the big party. A fabulous summer wedding!

Wakefield Commercial Photographer: Unique Wakefield Finale

Well, this is definitely the last of the shops I am shooting for Unique Wakefield! I finished the job with Angelic, an holistic beauty salon located on Northgate owned and run by Laura and Options hair salon on Wood Street, owned and run by Alison. I used a mix of daylight and flash for the shots and a medium telephoto to get me right into Laura’s world of nails but we couldn’t get a willing subject to let us photograph leg waxing. Perhaps I should have volunteered :¬) Then over to Options – a bustling hair salon, very busy with lots going on and I have no idea how the girls cope with the heat in there! I could have done with more lighting kit for the salon to overpower those halogens rather than fighting them off with a single speedlight but, I coped :¬)

West Yorkshire Glamour Photographer: Justine

Justine is a very experienced model and has been widely published and must have worked with countless photographers so I’m always really flattered when models of Justine’s calibre choose me to shoot their portfolio updates :¬) She needed a mix of fashion and lingerie images for her agency so that’s exactly what we shot. It makes such a difference too when the model knows exactly how to move and is not ‘rabbit in headlight’ material!

Wakefield Commercial Photographer: Unique Wakefield

Really down to the final few sessions for the Unique Wakefield guide and I’m just mopping up the last couple of boutique shops and bars that are going in the guide. Today I polished off Sartori, a holistic beauty salon in Bond Street and The Priory Bar on Back Street which had a superb range of lagers and beers and a friendly atmosphere to boot.

Wakefield Boudoir Photographer: Miss D.

I was very flattered when I was asked by Miss D to be her boudoir photographer and found out she was prepared to travel all the way from Somerset to Wakefield for a shoot with me! She’d seen my work through an acquaintance on Facebook and after looking at the photographers locally to her, she decided the quality of my images far outweighed the travelling up north and decided to make the journey to get some fabulous shots for her first time in front of the camera. We got some gorgeous images but she doesn’t want them on my blog so my little montage should just give you a hint at the quality of the images :¬) If you’re reading this and thinking of a boudoir shoot, just pick up the phone for a chat or to book a session. Just like Miss D, you’ll find the shoot is fun, relaxed and you will get yourself some of the best images you’ll ever have taken. Don’t believe all the hype about having to have a female photographer,  I am used to working with women and I will guide you throughout the shoot.

Wakefield Event Photographer: Crofton Academy Prom 2013

My second prom in the last week! This time I was back providing the event photography for the Crofton Academy 2013 prom at Kings Croft Hotel, Pontefract. It’s a tight venue to work usually but this year I think we got it right and set up in the main room where the food was being served rather than near the dance floor. As usual, a frenetic evening of activity, but the kids were great and we managed to get through loads of shots of individuals, couple, groups and the staff!
