Wakefield commercial photographer: Redrow Homes Horsforth

As a Wakefield commercial photographer I get to shoot many subjects but today I am convinced I photographed the real Santa Claus! ;¬) I was working for Redrow Homes again, this time at their Horsforth site and, like yesterday, Santa was there to meet the children and hand out a few pre-Christmas gifts. No fake beards or padded suits here though, he was the real deal and there were even reindeer outside on the lawn along with a choir. The showhouse was decked out will all the trimmings and looked cosy and warm as Santa met with kids both young and old. I captured Santa’s portrait (above) with a speedlight in a softbox I’d set up in the kitchen on roughly 1/16 and had it feathered across the lounge to give some nice directional lighting for depth and also to avoid specular highlights in the window behind Santa.

Wakefield commercial photographer : Redrow Homes Nostell Fields at Christmas

Wakefield commercial photographer: Today I was back at Redrow Homes’ Nostell Fields site to photographer Father Christmas who was on site in the show home giving out gifts to the visiting children. In addition to Santa, there was also a visit from the Crofton Silver Band who were outside playing Christmas carols to the prospective home buyers. The show house was done out with Christmas decorations and, with sherry and mince pies on free flow, things felt very Christmassy!

Wakefield commercial photographerCommercial photographer Wakefield: Hull Prospect Centre Christmas light shoot

Wakefield commercial photographer: On site again today for Fizzco shooting their Christmas lighting scheme, this time at Hull’s Prospect Centre. This centre has a small central atrium which was decorated with swags and baubles while the escalators up to the food court had some rather fine trees and presents displayed between them. With most of the decorations being in malls without daylight, the usual issues of battling against different lighting temperatures was a major issue. Here are a few shots from the shoot to give a flavour of the centre’s decorations.

Wakefield commercial photographer: Christmas lights at Crystal Peaks

After shooting the install of the Christmas lights at Sheffield’s Crystal Peaks mall, Fizzco asked me to shoot some images of the completed scheme so tonight I was on site for the shoot. I began with an external shot of the main entrance before moving indoors to the main atrium. There are some real technical issues when shooting Christmas lights that might not be apparent to the non-photographer. Firstly, there are all sorts of colour temperatures to deal with from fluorescent, halogen, tungsten and daylight lighting systems so getting a good white balance is really hard, and secondly, once the sky goes black outside, it becomes very hard to expose for the lights against the atrium roof. The best time to shoot the lights, whether outside or inside in a glass atrium, is just after the sun has gone down but before it gets dark – it’s what’s known as the blue hour in photography terms. Blue hour is a bit of a misnomer actually as it’s more like “blue 20mins”! I find myself dashing around like a headless chicken from the exterior to the glass atrium trying to get shots before it gets completely dark. Here are a few from the shoot.

commercial photographer WakefieldWakefield commercial photographer: PR shoot for Redrow Homes

Redrow Homes kindly commissioned me once again as their Wakefield commercial photographer for a PR shoot at their Nostell Fields site at Crofton. The brief was to shoot Tom, an apprentice bricklayer, who has just won the gold medal in the UK bricklaying awards making him the best apprentice brickie in the UK! I photographed him with his mentor, Tim, and some of the Redrow regional managers for use in the press and while I was there, I photographed the site manager for a different press piece. If you’d like to go and have a look at a house built by Britain’s best brickie, visit Redrow Homes

Wakefield boudoir photographer
Shelley found me while looking for a Wakefield boudoir photographer and, after a chat over the phone, booked in for her first boudoir shoot. We did the whole shoot in the main studio using only a couple of sets and different lighting styles to create both high key and low key looks. Shelley had a good selection of outfits and I think we managed to use them all and as she became more relaxed the images got better. Here are just a few images Shelley has kindly allowed me to post and if you are thinking of a boudoir shoot, there’s never been a better time to book. Just call me on 01924 229800 for a chat, the shoots are fun and relaxed and you will definitely get some super images.
