Wakefield commercial photographer truck shoot for F&P Wholesale

Wakefield commercial photographer: It’s been around 18months or so since I last shot for F&P Wholesale when I created some images of the directors and senior staff for a marketing piece. Today the brief was to create headshots for the sales team and also to get some dynamic images of their new fleet of trucks and trailers. F&P have just taken delivery of four new Scannia units and three new trailers costing around £1.5million – a bit more than I paid for my new car recently! I had to do the shoot in the yard at the head office which, though not ideal, did have plenty of space for positioning the trucks. The weather had been dodgy all morning but had brightened in the afternoon just in time for the shoot. However, the sky was ominous and blackening by the minute but it did make for a dramatic background!

Wakefield wedding photographer : Kerry & Matthew at Kings Croft Hotel

Just a few days after the destination Italian wedding, I was wearing my Wakefield wedding photographer hat again and I have to say, the cool overcast conditions of England proved a much more comfortable working environment than the 40dg of Florence! Kerry and Matthew chose Kings Croft Hotel for their wedding, a local and familiar venue for me. We began the day with the bridal preps as usual before heading out to catch up with Matt and the boys.  No best man or groomsman, just Josh, Callum and Riley, Matthew and Kerry’s sons acting as ring bearers.

Back to the bride’s room for the dressing shots and then bridal portraits before heading down into the ceremony room and catching up with the wedding guests including one of Matthew’s sisters whose wedding we photographed around three years ago! The threatened rain held off and all the guests were able to head out for drinks and the photos, starting with the big group shot and the confetti throwing. Once we had the family formals out of the way, we were just left with enough time for the bridal party and finally, the bride and groom shots. Here is a selection of my favourite images from the wonderful day.

Destination wedding photrographer Italy | wedding photographer Italy | Wedding photographer Villa San Michele, Italy

Destination wedding photographer: Simon & Kim at Villa San Michele, Feisole, Italy

Destination wedding photographer Italy: It was a real privilege to be invited to shoot the wedding of Simon & Kim at the incredibly beautiful and romantic location of Villa San Michele in Italy. This amazing former monastery sits high in the the sun drenched hills of Feisole in Italy and overlooks the beautiful city of Florence. Just as yesterday on the Chianti shoot, there was no respite from the heat again the wedding. Although the ceremony was scheduled to take place in the late afternoon to try and avoid some of the heat, it was still intense and certainly a real swealter of day. At least I wasn’t in dinner jacket and waistcoat like the menfolk at the wedding!

We began the shoot by hanging out with Kim and the girls for hair and make-up and made our way over to the groom and best man while the girls got into their dresses. After an incredibly hot 15 minutes with Simon and his brother Nikki, the best man, we headed back to the cool air conditioned room where Kim was just stepping into the dress. As the clock quickened towards the wedding hour, we managed to get out into the corridor to shoot some bridals using the rustic decor of the hotel. We were interrupted briefly by TV’s Philip Schofield on his way to the hotel pool  but no-one else came by until Kim’s dad arrived to take her hand and lead her out into the garden. The wedding guests were melting rapidly as Kim made her way down to the ceremony, held on one of the upper garden terraces, and joined Simon for the wedding blessing conducted with the spectacular views of Florence in the distance.

Drinks and canapes were very welcome for everyone and, as we got on with the family and group photos, the relative coolness of the afternoon shade crept across the terrace. This was made even more bearable by a gentle breeze which swept up the hillside from the valley below. A congratulatory nod from the Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark as he and Princess Mary passed by on their way to their room summed up the grandeur of the hotel. Time flew by as always and it was a mad rush to capture the images of Kim and Simon before the wedding breakfast was due to be served, plus we were also racing against the onset of dusk. However we did manage a few shots in front of the hotel, the facade of which was designed by Michelangelo, before the light went! It was totally dark by the time the speeches were due and getting quite late by the time the first dance kicked off but we still managed some great shots of the occasion. I’ve put together more shots than in the usual blog postings, but I think that a wedding from a venue such as this really deserves it :¬)

Destination wedding photographer Italy: The Chianti Run with Simon & Kim

Destination wedding photographer Italy: I met up with Simon and Kim at the beautiful Villa St Michele in the hills above Florence to head out on their pre-wedding shoot into the Chianti hills. Simon had hired a vintage Alfa Romeo for the shoot which absolutely looked the part, though in the 40dg heat we had, I was glad I was in my own air conditioned car! We started the shoot at the famous Piazzale Michelangelo which looks right across the historic city of Florence and has spectacular views of the Duomo.. Despite the hundreds of tourists here we managed to get a few shots without too many interruptions and we were one of the very few groups shooting without a selfie stick!

After leaving the busy tourist spots, we headed out into the hills of Chianti to try and get off the beaten track and to shoot with the classic views of vineyards and rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside. We were shooting in the heat of the day with very bright sunshine at both locations, but the sun was particularly fierce up in the hills. We snapped away to the deafening buzz-saw sound of the cicadas and tried not to melt in the near 40dg heat! Gradually, we worked our way to the small town of Greave where we had welcome respite in the form of a cold beer and amazing late lunch of pasta heading back down into the heat and bustle of Florence to prepare for the cocktail party for the wedding guests that night. destination wedding photographer ItalyUK Wedding photographer in ItalyCHIANTI048CHIANTI049CHIANTI050CHIANTI051CHIANTI052UK Wedding photographer in ItalyUK Wedding photographer in ItalyUK Wedding photographer in ItalyUK Wedding photographer in Italywedding photographer Villa St Michelawedding photographer Villa St Michelawedding photographer Villa St Michelawedding photographer Villa St Michelawedding photographer Villa St Michelawedding photographer Villa St Michelawedding photographer Villa St Michelawedding photographer Villa St Michelawedding photographer Villa St Michelawedding photographer Villa St Michelawedding photographer Villa St Michelawedding photographer Villa St Michela

Steampunk wedding photographer: Laura & Adam

Steampunk wedding photographer: I was down in Nottingham today to photograph the wedding of Laura and Adam and it was certainly a wedding with a difference! Laura and Adam are both part of the steampunk and gothic circuit and their wedding was most definitely going to be in that style with a theme of black & red. Around 120 of their friends and family turned out for the wedding dressed in some marvelous outfits, mostly crafted by themselves and all in the Victorian time-travelling style that is steampunk. We began the day at Laura’s house where Laura and all the bridesmaids were getting ready and it was a real hive of activity. Despite the tragedy of Laura’s mum Colleen passing away just a few days before the wedding, everyone held up well and decided that the day should be both a wedding celebration and a celebration of Colleen’s life.  We finished at Laura’s house with a fabulous shoot in the large rear garden with Laura and the girls before heading off to Church of St Peter & St Paul at Warsop to meet up with Adam.

Outside the church, the gathering of the steampunks was an excellent sight as we photographed Adam and the men with Adam looking very Jack Sparrow crossed with Noel Fielding :¬) The weather held for the formals and the bridal party shots which we did entirely at the church as there was limited opportunities at the venue. It was pretty hot by the time we finished the shoot and I can only imagine how uncomfortable the folks must have been in heavy velvet and hats so a cold pint was a welcome relief. Here are a few shots from the day to give a flavour of a spectacular wedding.

College Prospectus photography: NEW College Pontefract (Part 2)

I was back again at NEW College today for more college prospectus photography for the 2015/6 edition. Once again we used the photographic department’s studio for some high key work before heading off around the classrooms to mop up the last of the subjects required for this year’s edition. While touring the school we bumped into the principle so I took the opportunity of accosting her and getting a new portrait as it has been a couple of years since I last photographed Pauline. I used a bright corridor and lifted the shadows with a bit of fill from a Profoto B1 into a shoot through brolly to get some good, relaxed but professional images.
