Infra red photography in Cyprus

Just returned from a 2 week family holiday in Cyprus refreshed and ready for tomorrow’s wedding at Nostell Priory with Richard and Alice! The weather was a scorching 30dg+ every day with cloudless blue skies, too hot for me – thank goodness for the pool! I still take photos while I’m on holiday of course and it’s one of few occasions where I can shoot images for pleasure rather than working to a brief for a client. I usually just take a couple of Fuji X camras with me and a selection of lenses and I especially love the X Pro 1 that I have had converted to infra red. When I am shooting lightweight and free with the Fuji’s I tend to shoot landscapes, infra red photography and street photography. I love capturing the candid shots of people going about their daily business such as the two guys playing backgammon and the bar tender at Oniros, an amazing restaurant on the edge of the sea cliffs near Agios Georgios in Cyprus. Wakefield Baby Bump Photographer: Melisa & Kenroy

I can’t believe it has been five years since Melisa and Kenroy were last in the studio but today they were back again for a second bump shoot with Shania who WAS the bump during the last shoot Although I’m a Wakefield baby bump photographer, Melisa thought it worth the journey from Manchester for both shoots and I hope the photos show why. Although we only had around 45mins in the studio, I managed to shoot high key, low key, group shots, individual shots of Shania as well as lots of images of Melisa of course.

Yorkshire prom photographer: Royd’s School prom 2016

Very close to the family holidays, but just enough time to shoot my 5th school prom for Royd’s school, Leeds. Since Royd’s began having a professional event photographer at their annual prom, they used two other photographers just once each and then found me and have booked me every year since. It’s really an honour when a client likes my work enough to keep giving me the repeat bookings and Royd’s have already booked me again for 2017. They love the way our shoots are fun and interactive and we get some fabulous photos for the kids to take away on the night. The quality of the 9×6 prints is really good and, being an experienced commercial portrait photographer, the poses are much more fashionista in style. Wakefield commercial photographer: Redrow Homes shoot

I headed over to South Milford today to the new Redrow development to meet up with the employees of the year who were to be presented with their awards. The brief was to shoot a group shot, plus each of the individuals being presented and to have some branding visible but not overtly so. To achieve the subtle branding, I shot wide open with the 70-200mm to throw the background way off while still retainng the recognisable corporate branding of Redrow. The agency were really pleased with the shots and tried to book me immediately for another shoot but unfortunately, I was heading off to Cyprus in just a couple of days and was unable to undertake the shoot.

West Yorkshire Prom Photographer: Crofton High School 2016

12 months has flown by already and so I put on my West Yorkshire prom photographer hat once again to shoot the 2016 Crofton High School prom at Oulton Hall. The kids looked fantastic in their outfits, the girls all looking around 21yrs old while many of the boys looked about 12! As ever, I took along my backdrop and a couple of Profoto heads to create some great studio style images the students. We shot groups, pairs, couples and individuals all night long – very hard work but great fun. All the images are printed out there and then so the kids walk away with some fabulous 9×6 prints in black strut mounts. Yorkshire wildlife photographer: photographing birds in Spain

I still keep up with my passion for photographing all things wild and although I am a Yorkshire wildlife photographer, I do enjoy the odd field trip abroad. I’ve just got back from a few days photographing birds in Spain, one of my favourite places for nature photography, it just such a huge unspoilt country with a great diversity of birds. Some of the key species to photograph were sandgrouse, a bird of the hot dry desrt areas, the beautiful orange and black rock thrush and its close cousin the blue rock thrush. I managed to photograph a good selection of birds but missed out on a few of the target species such as Montague’s harrier.
