Helen came over from Bradford today for a studio shoot to give to her partner as a suprise gift. We started off with a bit of fashion and ended up with some Hollywood style portraits which I like as it gives me lots of scope with the lighting. Tonight I did a lighting demo at Wakefield Camera Club, something I do for them every couple of months, and this time I did a simple three light setup. As I’m busy doing the demo and answering technical questions, I don’t take many shots myself other than a few to show the members what the image should look like but here’s two that I’ve processed up. I took Stacey along as my model for the evening and I think she was a hit :¬)
Met up with fellow photographer Shaun today to help out with a fashion shoot on location – I was to advise on the lighting set-ups. Shaun had decided to use the bridge structures underneath the old A1 motorway at Ferrybridge and I went along to help out. In addition to the the motorway stanchions, we used Ferrybridge power station as a backdrop too and the low winter sunlight gave us some great ambient to work with. Shaun was kind enough to let me shoot a few images of Jo for my portfolio and so here are just a few from a very quick edit before tea!
Katie came along to the studio today for some fashion shots for her portfolio. We first met while I was shooting an event for Full on Flirt at The Stereo Bar in Wakefield earlier this month. Although we only had a couple of hours in the studio, we did come up with some great images for her using my favourite lighting modifier, the beauty dish. The Kemp family called round today for a studio shoot for themselves and for their dad’s 60th birthday so we had planty of scope for shooting different family groups. Aimee and Ross flew in from their home in Dubai for a wedding planning meeting at Oulton Hall today (bet that was shock going from 25dg to 6.5dgC!). Not having met the Aimee and Ross previously (they booked me via the internet), it was a great opportunity to meet up with this friendly and relaxed couple and it was also good to meet Kate, one of the bridesmaids, too. Not often I get to meet the bridesmaids before the day.
After a chat and a browse of some of my sample albums, we made the most of the fabulous grounds and late winter sunshine to do a pre-wedding shoot or E-session as I call them. All my weddings include an E-session, its a great way for the couple to see how I work and also to get a flavour of what it is to be the centre of attention but in a really informal way. Here’s a few shots from a very brief edit.
