Sophie’s prom dress studio shoot

Sophie came over today for a prom dress shoot but, due to the cold wintery conditions, we had to hold off the trash the prom dress style shoot in a grungy location I had in mind and instead, shoot some fashion magazine style images in the studio. We shot some white wall images to get Sophie used to the camera and then moved on to a grey backdrop, before finishing off with some fashonista shots of her in her New Year’s Eve dress, creating lots of lovely flare by shooting straight into a bare flash head. We’ll be shooting the location stuff once we get through the current cold snap, so watch this space. Liz & Nigel’s wintery Bagden Hall wedding

December 24, 2009

The second snowy wedding in a week! It’s a long time since we’ve had crisp snowy conditions like this and for such a length of time but the weather was again stunning for Liz and Nigel’s wedding blessing at Trinity Church, Ossett and the reception at Bagden Hall, Scissett. The grounds at Bagden were covered in crisp, deep white snow and we had a great time in the soft winter afternoon light trying to capture the wintery feel of the day. Liz’s deep red dress and white fur stole really added to the Christmas feel and after getting cold and wet in the snow, we went indoors for a bridal shoot in the great hall in front of the roaring log fire. Ross & Aimee’s white wedding at Oulton Hall

December 21, 2009

Ross and Aimee flew in from Dubai for their wedding at Oulton Hall and got more of a white wedding than they bargained for! Sub-zero temperatures, frozen fountains and snow on the ground made Oulton Hall into a very romantic winter wonderland and a far cry from the temperatures of Dubai. Fortunately, all but a handful of the guests managed to travel over from Dubai, Fleetwood, Cumbria and the Home counties for the wedding and no-one can have failed to be impressed with Oulton Hall and its very Christmasy feel. The bridal party were real sports and up for some snowy wedding pictures and braved the cold for half an hour or so to have a run round in the snow and pose in front of the frozen fountain. Here are a few pictures to be going on with, more to come but I’ve some pressing portrait tasks to get on with in time for Christmas and before tomorrow’s wedding!

Kayleigh’s maternity shoot

Kayleigh and Chris braved the cold, icy conditions and came over from Heckmondwike for their maternity shoot today. With the studio nice and warm we got straight into the shoot and began with some white infinity curve stuff before moving onto the the low key lighting on the black background. Chris’s large muscular frame created the perfect foil for Kayleigh in the couples shots and Kayleigh was a natural when it came to the solo poses; there are many images that I’m really pleased with. Corporate headshots for Select Services

A quick visit to the studio today to shoot some headshots for Select Services, a local company that specialises in investigating insurance fraud. The brief was for a couple of headshots of the director, Stephen Horrocks, for their new-look, soon to be launched, website. I decided to shoot on a simple white background to allow the web designers to crop out if required and also on a mid-grey background which always has that corporate feel to it and blends well with most colours.

Liz and Nigel pre-wedding shoot

I met up with Liz and Nigel today for a pre-wedding shoot ahead of their wedding blessing next week at Trinity Church, Ossett. We decided to meet at Wragby Church in the grounds of Nostell Priory for the photo session, but after a glorious start to the day, the clouds rolled in and it was really quite dark by 3pm when we began shooting as well as a chill wind in the air. However, Liz remained toasty in her big parka as we moved around the churchyard where many of her ancestors are buried and, dispite the gloomy conditions, we got some great images and gave both Liz and Nigel a feel for the shoot on their big day.
