Luke & Danielle’s wedding ~ Norwood Park, Southwell

The weather was a perfect spring day today for Luke & Danielle’s wedding at Norwood Park, Southwell in Nottinghamshire. The couple were married at the Kindom Hall in West Bridgeford before travelling north to Norwood Park, a new venue for me and a spectacular setting for a wedding! The guests enjoyed the warm spring sunshine with drinks on the terrace before heading to the courtyard for the wedding breakfast. I can see lots of shooting opportunities here and I hope it won’t be too long before I get chance for a return visit!

Maja in the studio – portfolio shoot.

It’s getting kinda cosmopolitan in the studio of late what with Maddy from Latvia last week and Maja from Poland last night! Maja had seen my work on a modelling website and contacted me for a portfolio shoot quite a few weeks ago now, but last night we managed to hook up for the shoot and timed it with a visit north from my favourite MUA, Lyndsey Ward. Having a professional make-up artist makes a huge difference to the shoot I think, especially when they stay throughout the shoot and are constantly touching up the make-up or hair and also changing the style to go with the different outfits. Branova Ltd product shoot

It’s not all gorgeous brides and glamour shoots in my business! Today I was shooting 5 litre tubs of industrial cleaning fluids for Branova Ltd for their websites and brochures. Product photography, or packshot work as its known in the trade, can be harder than it appears. The semi-transulcent plastic containers have a ‘soft’ edge to them unlike, say, a box of chocolates that would have a hard edge, so preventing the chromagreen background bleeding into the product is difficult to say the least! These were all shot on a chromagreen background to allow the products to be cropped out in post so that the graphic designers can drop the images over text etc. I’ll only put one example up as they are a bit samey! :¬)

Hanson Bricks (Part deux!)……..

Having submitted the images from the Hanson Bricks commission last Friday for their approval, it was nice to get a call yesterday from Steve Morton, Marketing Director, informing me that they were more than pleased with the images. “I use a lot of photographers to capture our finished projects” Said Steve, “but while they deliver a sharp, well exposed image, there aren’t many that have the eye for composition that you appear to have”. I really love it when I exceed a client’s expectation and I love it even more when they commission another shoot straight away which is what Steve has done! So, having checked the forecast and seeing a gradual decline in the weather towards the weekend (wedding on Saturday in Nottingham!), I decided to go straight out to York today to complete the shoot. Here are a few more brick shots from a project in York.

Andy & Clare’s pre-wedding shoot

I’d arranged to meet Andy & Clare today to go through their wedding plans ahead of their big day in May. We were due to meet at the studio then nip up the road to Bretton Country Park for a pre-wedding shoot but the heavy rain and cool wind put paid to that idea! So, we had 15 mins in the studio using just a couple of lights, a white wall and the boudoir wall as space was limited due to the studio looking like a bomb site as I was in the middle of a packshot commission. Bretton Park would have been great for the pre-shoot so we’ve rescheduled it for mid-April.
