Just got back from a week in Bulgaria with a friend where we’ve been shooting wildlife images, mostly birds but with few landscapes and mammals thrown in too. The weather was generally very good with rain only in the mountains on the first day, though we had very heavy rain the day we planned to do vultures which meant we were in the hide at 5am and no sign of vultures till the rain cleared at 2pm (vultures won’t fly in the rain)! Even then, the vultures were held off the carcass as the local shepherds’ dogs came one by one to feed on the carcass – they are very big mean looking wolf hounds so we, like the vultures, deferred to them! Eventually we did get the vulture shots and I was pleased with them and I really enjoyed the bee-eaters too. Only a few images here, the rest will be over on the wildlife website – Wildscenes – but it will be a while before I edit as I have a cack load of editing of weddings, commercial and portraits to get through as you can see from recent blog activity!
