Wakefield Commercial Photographer: Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter

Working as a Wakefield commercial photographer I have built up a number of regular clients and Yorkshire Air Ambulance, based at Nostell Priory, are one such client. Today, I was asked to shoot some images of a pilot and a paramedic that could be used as a life sized cut-out at publc events where event goers can stand behind the cut-out and take photos of themselves as part of the crew. To make life easy for myself and the graphic designers, I used a plain wall inside the hangar as a backdrop and lit it with a speedlight to make it go white. A couple of other well placed speedlights made the silver-grey floor go white while the final speedlight, a Profoto A1, into a small octa provided the key light. I was also asked to do some detail shots of the newly acquired night vision binoculars which could be used for press and PR releases. The final part of the brief was to capture some abstract images of the helicopter which could be used as large canvas artwork around the air base. There are already a few pieces hanging in the corridors at the base but it was thought that a few more were required. Despite the dull day, I managed to shoot some reasonable images and drop in a blue sky in post 🙂
