Wakefield Commercial photographer: Fashion shoot

Wakefield commercial photographer: Fashion photography shoot

Back to the studio after the festive break for my first commercial photography shoot of the year which happened to be a fashion photography shoot for a new clothing website. I suggested to the client that we shoot on a white sweep but that I would light it to around 20% grey. I think this is a really lovely colour and ideal for fashion photography as it suits most clothing colours. We shot around 30 items in this session using a totally inexperienced model, in fact, I think it was her first time. However, Lucy was a natural and we flew through the shoot and got some amazing images for the client, some of which you see here, and they were pretty much usable straight out of camera. After we’d done the catalog stuff, I did a quick shoot with Lucy using my new Pentax 645z medium format camera. I bought this beast just before Christmas and, although I’ve used it on some commercial work, I hadn’t yet tried it in the studio (I shot with a D810 for the fashion shoot for the file size) and I was keen to test it. So, the first two shots below are my first ever portraits with the 645z. OMG! I was shocked and amazed by the quality of the files! It outshines the 36mp Nikon D810 by miles, though it’s not entirely fair to compare these two bodies. I think I’ve just found the best camera I’ve ever used! Lots more to come on this I’m sure.
