London ad agency Halogen commissioned me to shoot Trinity Walk, Wakefield’s brand new shopping mall built on the site of the old market. To say I’m not a shopper is an understatement so this was my first (and probably only) venture into the shopping mall, but I have to say it’s impressive with the open air, continental feel under the great glass canopy. My brief was to shoot every shop head on along with some general architecture shots to capture the feel and vibrancy of the new place and finally, PR shots for three specific shops – Pizza Express, River Island and Pulp. I picked a great day for the shoot with blue skies and white clouds which really emphasised the open air feel, but gave me problems in terms of reflections in the glass. I used a Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 PC-E lens for most of the formal shots to avoid any unsightly converging verticals but then let rip with the 14-24mm f/2.8 (wonderfully sharp lens!) and my favourite, the 70-200mm f/2.8 for the compression shots.
