Location portrait photographer down on the farm

location portrait photographer Yorkshire

A couple of years ago, Sue and John were looking for a location portrait photographer to go to their farm near Barnsley to create some family portraits of all the children belonging to their brothers and sisters. Now that the family is growing and there is talk of one moving to New Zealand and others to university etc, Sue thought it was time to shoot an updated set of photos before it became impossible to get everyone together. Sue’s farm is located pretty centrally for all the relatives to travel to from Leicester and Northallerton so that’s where we met once again for the shoot. The weather was pretty cold and grim, so we decided to shoot in the large grain store which had an open front and was just a bit less muddy than the rest of the farmyard! We used a large, freshly washed tractor as a backdrop and brought in a couple of large bales to use as seats. Lighting was achieved using four flash heads with the key light coming from a large 500w monobloc with a large softbox and running from a travel pack.

We did various combinations of the family groups as well as the whole lot together and then we moved down to one of the sheep folds for another set of images to finish with. Here is a selection of the images we created and if you’d like to book me for your location shoot, just call the studio on 01924 229800
