Been a few weeks since Excite Clothing were in the studio but they were back today for a plus size shoot with Jenna. We shot a load of stuff in the studio in the usual style for the web site but just before we packed up, we had a quick shoot outside the studio to get a few impact shots. We shot on the front door step and the garden just to the side of the building and did three dresses that I felt had a vintage look and feel to them so that’s how I presented them here. Lighting was a simple combo of daylight and fill from a beauty dish on a 500w monobloc powered by a travel pack. There was just a bit too much bright light to allow me to go to some really wide appertures so I ended up mostly around the f/4 mark but f/2.0 would have been so sweet.

robCould you not have used a ND filter to let you open up to f/2.0?
JohnHi Rob
Yes ND would have got me to f/2 but I shot most of these with 85mm f1/8 which has a 62mm filter thread and I only had 77mm threaded filters as most of the Nikkors are now standard at 77mm. Must get a step up ring!
