Lucy & Alan are due to be married at The Treasurer’s House in York next month so it was high time we met up to discuss the details and have a bit of a pre-wedding shoot. As they are from Leeds, we decided to meet up at Kirkstall Abbey for the shoot as it is a favourite place of theirs and the very first place they took their young son Thomas out for the first time. Although the weather was fairly bright this morning, it soon clouded over and was quite dull and cold by the time we met up for the shoot.
The weather wasn’t the only problem we encountered! A fun fair in the car park at the Abbey meant we struggled to find a spot and the Abbey Museum cafe was shut for a wedding reception! Undeterred we started off in the museum gardens before crossing over to the abbey to finish the shoot. As the rain began to fall and we headed back to the cars to head off to find somewhere for a chat, the bride of the abbey wedding arrived dressed in black and purple, a full gothic wedding and just the setting for it. Such a shame about the weather for them!
Lucy and Alan’s wedding is late May so hopefully the weather will have picked up by then and we should get some sunshine to shoot in at the Treasurer’s House and around the streets of York. I’ve put together a little slideshow from the shoot (includes a few bugs!) with some larger images below in case the iFoney/iFad brigade can’t see the slideshow!
