Pregnancy Photo Shoots - Your questions answered.

Are pregnancy shoots unusual?

Absolutely not! Baby bump shoots are really in fashion and we regularly shoot this style of photography. Because you will be photographed by an award-winning professional photographer, you can be sure of some superb images.

When is the best time for pregnancy photography?

From 34 weeks onwards but the bigger the bump the better!

What can I expect during the shoot?

When you arrive at the studio we will have a quick chat about the sort of images you are after and have a look at some previously shot images to give you ideas. The shoot will last around 2hrs, so we've plenty of time explore lots of ideas and if you have seen any specific images you'd like to copy, bring them along and we can shoot similar things. Of course, we are always coming up with new ideas so feel free to go with the flow and let us take the lead.

I feel awkward in front of a camera, will I look good?

Absolutely! We make sure the session is friendly and relaxed, guiding you through poses and outfit changes. Most poeple are nervous to begin with, but after a very short while, you'll ease into it and be really enjoying the shoot. Part of the skill of a professional photographer is getting the best out of the client and that is achieved easily by John's relaxed and laid back nature. And don't forget, all your completed images are professionally and personally hand finished by John so we guarantee you'll look a million dollars in the final image.

Can I include my partner and children?

Oh yes! We recognise it took two people to get you to where you are today :¬) Partners are very much encouraged and welcome to be part of the shoot. If you already have children and would like to include them too, that's also fine. You can, of course, always bring someone along for support such as a frined, your mum or sister etc.

What should I wear for the shoot?

Bump shoot clothes are whatever you feel comfortable wearing but the more the clothes reveal the bump, the better. We shoot ladies in underwear, nighties, white shirts or even T-shirts. Cropped tops are good too.

Do I have to get naked?

No! The shoot is about you and your requirements! We do whatever you feel comfortable with. Clothed, semi-clothed and nude is your choice but John always shoots with long lenses which gives a good working distance and is never close to you so you might find being semi-clothed is not as daunting as it might seem and will show off your bump to its best. Any nudity is very tastefully done. However, an unbuttoned shirt or wrapped in silky material can be just as revealing for your bump. There's absolutely no need to worry about being photographed by a man! We can supply references from previous bump shoots if you require any reassurance.

What options for the images are there?

Gosh! Where do we start? Canvas wraps, acryllic block, box frames, bespoke frames, sumptuous albums - we do the lot! Ask to see some samples. After editing, your images will be placed on a private web gallery where you can choose the images you want, but as an experienced image maker, John can advise on which images will look the best and how they could be presented. We are here to help, so just ask if there's anything specific that you would like. Enlargement options start from as little as £50
