Well, the Baxbys were back in the studio today with new addition to the family - Jack. I photographed Natalie and John’s wedding at Healds Hall last April and then earlier this year we did a baby bump shoot and today I met the little man in person. After a very tired start followed by a grumpy spell and then a stomach full of ‘gold top’ and a nappy change, things went really well :) Here are a few images from today minus Macie the rottweiler who wouldn’t perform the shot we had in mind as she was too scared of Jack!

For your baby shoots at the studio just call 01924 229800

It was nearly 12 months ago when I photographed Lucy & Robert’s wedding at Mosborough Hall, Sheffield and today they were in the studio with a new addition to the family - young Jack. After a good feed, Jack was well up for a bit of a photo shoot with mum and dad and we have some really nice images to choose from. The shoot was a suprise for Robert’s 30th birthday. Great stuff!

If you’d like a family shoot, just call me on 01924 229800 or visit the website for more details.

Leanne contacted me a few weeks ago to arrange a family portrait shoot as a surprise for her Granddad’s 80th and so today there was a gathering of cousins from the Hunt & Crowther clan to do just that. We shot some fun, but formal stuff of the group that would appeal to Granddad’s tastes before shooting a some casual shots of the two sets of cousins. Framed family portraits like this make absolutely super gifts for mums, dads and grandparents as they are intimate, stylish and really personal and will give lasting pleasure as a large framed print or canvas wrap. To arrange your family portrait, just call the studio on 01924 229800 to arrange a sitting.

Abi was a bridesmaid at Scott and Amy’s wedding a while back and my friend Jannine whom I shot the wedding with over in Keighley asked if she could bring Abi over to the studio for a bit of a practise session with the studio lighting. So tonight they came over and we also had the company of Sarah Aveyard as MUA who did a great job on the make-up for the shoot. Here’s some footage from the night and a few of the images we did for Abi. If you’d like to book a portrait shoot, just give me a call on 01924 229800 or send me a mail.

Doesn’t seem two minutes since the Christmas break but here we are at the end of another half-term! So, in order to avoid “couch potato-itus” setting in on the kids, we went to Howarth for the day calling in at the Worth Valley Railway and Saltaire on the way back. It was a gloriously sunny and crsip winter day with a good dusting of snow in Howarth providing some great photo opportunities, but having the rest of the gang with me I decided to travel light, taking only two lenses and no tripod! Here’s a few of the snap shots I took on the day. You can see the perils of taking photographs of an 11 year old boy while there’s snow on the ground - obviously five grands worth of gear is just too tempting a target :¬\

A short break in the blog activity now as I’m in the high Pyrennees in Spain from tomorrow for 4 days of nature photography concentrating on the enigmatic lammergier vulture as well as three other vuture species and, hopefully, eagles. Then its back to a busy studio schedule the following week.

With all the Christmas festivities out of the way, now is the time to be looking towards Valentine’s Day on February 14th and thinking about giving something a bit different this year that is both lasting and personal. So, with this in mind I’ve come up with a Valentine’s Day photoshoot at a great price that also includes 6 10×8 prints in elegant black folders, 20 web-sized images for use on Facebook or Myspace etc and a very large 20×30 canvas gallery wrap of your favourite image complete and ready to hang as soon as your partner unwraps it! This is a very personal gift that will last a lifetime, not just a few weeks and all for only £150!

The shoot will last around 1hr in our well equipped studio and can involve a couple of changes of clothes; the style and content of the shoot is entirely down to you: it could be a sexy boudoir shoot, a fashion style shoot, a beautiful Hollywood glamour style portrait or even a lifestyle shoot involving both you and your partner to create a beautiful centre piece for your living room wall. The images will then be put on a private web gallery for you to choose your favourite image for printing on the sumptuous large canvas wrap.

To book your Valentine’s Day photo session call now on 01924 229800.

Helen came over to the studio today to discuss the options for a celebrate the dress shoot and after we’d had a chat about that and decided on what style of shoot we’d do, I took the opportunity of a couple of quick portraits by natural light from the studio windows. The frosted glass is just a bit too diffuse for my taste, unless there’s a lot of daylight, but with leaden skies like we had to day, not enough gets through. Here are a couple of the results: I used a very shallow depth of field to cope with the low light and also to emphasise the eyes. I’m looking forward to the celebrate the dress shoot later this month.

Emma & David came braved the snow and ice today to come over to the studio for a baby bump shoot. I’m shooting the couple’s wedding later this year in July and, while that may be some month’s off, the baby is due in a few weeks, so it was top priority to do the maternity shoot. We did both high key and low key lighting and tried various ideas and got some great shots by the end of the session. With bumps, baby and a wedding, there’s bound to be more of these two on the blog!

If you’d like a baby bump session, just call the studio on 01924 229800 or send me a mail for some information and don’t forget to click on the baby bump category for more maternity images or visit the new bump pages.

Sophie came over today for a prom dress shoot but, due to the cold wintery conditions, we had to hold off the trash the prom dress style shoot in a grungy location  I had in mind and instead, shoot some fashion magazine style images in the studio. We shot some white wall images to get Sophie used to the camera and then moved on to a grey backdrop, before finishing off with some fashonista shots of her in her New Year’s Eve dress, creating lots of lovely flare by shooting straight into a bare flash head. We’ll be shooting the location stuff once we get through the current cold snap, so watch this space. In the meantime, if you fancy a studio style fashion shoot in your prom dress, just call the studio on 01924 229800.
