This is me
What can I say? I began taking photographs of birds and animals in the early 80s as part of my lifelong interest in natural history. All my annual leave from my career in IT was spent travelling the world photographing wildlife and I still do take wildlife pictures (see Wildscenes). Then, in the 90s, I began to take an interest in photographing people and creating portraits. This was a daunting prospect for a shy guy like me and it took a few years for me to get over the fear of going one to one with someone. However, the urge to create amazing portraits consumed me to the point where I had to have a go on a more permanent basis.
In 2004, I took two years off without pay to have a go at being a commercial photographer and, as you have probably guessed, I never went back. It's been an uphill struggle, I'm not a businessman that's one thing I've learned, but what I lack in business accumen, I more than make up for with my photography.
Since being self employed as a photographer, my work has grown and brought me into contact with companies such as Redrow Homes, Toyota forklift, Coca-cola, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Marston's Brewery, British Heart Foundation, Aviva, Beaumont Legal, Dunelm, Active PR and The National Triust to name but a few. In addition to corporate work, I've had the pleasure of photographing weddings, proms, glamour, boudoir, baby bumps, and fashion both on location and in my fully equipped studio in Wakefield.
So now I'm living the dream, working for some great clients and doing what I like best - taking photos. Take a while to browse the galleries and if you want to see more, ask or follow me on Instagram, 500px or Twitter. sometimes, I'm even on Facebook!
