Street Photography in Paris:

I’ve just returned from a few days in Paris, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but I confess it has left the coffers bare! Paris is a very expensive place to visit but I’d never been and I really wanted to do some travel and street photography as well as see some of the famous sites such as the Eifel Tower, Arch de Triumph and Notre Damme. I still take photographs even when I am not working on a commission, I just love creating images and my personal work, when I am on a family trip such as this, is street photography. Street photography is very much about capturing the feel and spirit of a place and recording the people as they go about their daily business. I love the thrill of shooting with a small, mirrorless camera and a 35mm lens which forces me to be up close and personal to my subjects. Of course, Henri Cartier-Bresson was the most famous of all street photographers and he made a living recording the Parisian street scenes. I’m not in the same league and I still panic about pointing the camera at a complete stranger, especially when they catch sight of what you’re doing. However, the photographic rewards make it worthwhile and I love it when I get a shot that really pleases me like the one below.
